Yesterday I got to do the part of this job I love most: show up in person with my team Leah Parrott and Shnaze Garmkhorani. We could have "handled" these conversations over email. A quick Teams call. A couple of texts. It would have been efficient; and completely forgettable. Instead we spent real time with our customer, face to face, and covered everything. Where AI is taking our industry. A few too many Step Brothers quotes ("Did we just become best friends?"). We even settled the great Pam vs. Pan debate once and for all. None of that shows up on a project plan. All of it is why the partnership works. Here's what I keep relearning: trust doesn't get built in the inbox. It gets built in the room. When you're sitting across from someone, sharing a laugh, letting the conversation drift from strategy to something ridiculous; that's when you stop being a vendor and start being someone they actually want to work with. Virtual is convenient. Onsite is where the relationship is made. If a partner is worth the work, they're worth the trip. Every time. Personal. Service.
