We’ve recently welcomed a new team member, Monika Kokko, as a Laboratory Technician to strengthen our analysis and development capabilities. With a background in textile chemistry and materials sustainability, Monika brings valuable expertise to the team. “I have now spent a few months at Spinnova, working with the laboratory team on textile fibre and fabric testing and analysis. What interests me most is understanding the full process, that starts from raw material, formulation, and recipes all the way to the final material, and seeing how different factors affect the outcome. I’ve really enjoyed the hands-on nature of the work, as well as the variety that each day brings.” In our blog, Monika talks about her background and what brought her to Spinnova. The production restart at Woodspin’s demo factory is progressing, with initial trial runs now completed successfully. “The first trials at the Woodspin demo factory have progressed as expected. The factory has been maintained well, and the process has been designed in a way that enables a relatively straightforward restart even after a pause in production. The next steps focus on further validating the process and planning the ramp-up”, says Ari-Matti Tuovinen, Operations Director at Spinnova.

Last week, Pedro Brito represented Spinnova at Fashion for Good Innovation Fest 2026 in Amsterdam. The event brought together 150 partners, innovators, brands and manufacturers from across the textile value chain to bridge innovations and technologies into commercially viable solutions, and to discuss key topics shaping the fashion industry. The setting provided an opportunity to share an update on our journey, including preparations to restart production at our demo plant and the ecosystem we are building with partners. Together, these efforts support our scale-up and progress towards commercialisation. Thank you to Fashion for Good for the invitation and the opportunity to share our progress. Special thanks to the FFG team, especially Katrin Ley, Priyanka Khanna, Femke Jonkmans and Azra Cevapovic.
