We had a successful SC250 Idea Exchange event on Wednesday! Public library staff from across the state shared their SC250 program ideas, creating an opportunity for collaboration among public libraries. We are excited to see how South Carolina public libraries will continue to highlight SC250 throughout the rest of the year.

Since 2002, The Library of Congress National Book Festival has hosted a Roadmap to Reading, where visitors can discover literary heritage from all 56 states and U.S. territories. Every Center for the Book affiliate selects a youth and adult book as a “Great Read from Great Places” to represent their state’s local literary heritage. We are excited to announce our 2026 Great Reads from Great Places book selections! Our youth selection is "An Army of a Different Kind" by Eric K. Barnes, and our adult selection is "Backcountry Resistance" by Carl P. Borick.
