To address vacant office spaces and the growing demand for housing, we launched the Office-to-Residential Conversion Program in 2023 as part of the Downtown Activation Plan. As a result, an office building in Queen Anne has been converted into the Rejuvenate Apartments, opening this month! 🎉 It features 74 units with several affordable housing options. This Spring, we partnered with the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience, QT Mahjong Club, and several community organizations to bring the game of Mahjong to Union Station. This free and intergenerational family friendly event invited players of all levels to connect and learn from one another. Hundreds of people attended both events, showing the potential for more community activations in this historic space. Shout out to our own PeiPei Sung, a co-organizer of these events! We recently announced $14.8 million in awards to 18 community projects through the City’s Equitable Development Initiative (EDI)! This round of awards directs funding to projects that have previously received EDI funding and are now ready to move on to the next phase. The prior awards were recommended by a community review panel and supported early project work, such as acquisition of properties or a feasibility analysis. The 2026 awards will support those same projects to enter or complete the construction phase. Read all about it on our Daily Plan-It blog: https://lnkd.in/gjkVsEeY. Pictured: A rendering of the Tubman Center for Health and Freedom will be a 39,000 sq ft facility in Rainier Beach to address health and wellness from both systemic and clinical approaches. They will have their soil-turning event on June 5.
