About us
Salvo Health enables providers treating chronic GI and metabolic liver conditions to enable their practices and hospital departments to move from episodic appointments to offering continuous "wraparound care." Salvo lets providers including GI private practices, primary care population health ACOs, and health systems to deliver interdisciplinary follow-on care, while keeping patients under their doctor's supervision. In a coordinated approach, doctors can add a team dedicated to follow-on, personalized care plans for each patient, including registered dietitians, gut health specialized nurses, and behavioral health support. This improves patient outcomes and access, while also generating a new service line of revenue for providers, leveraging remote patient monitoring (RPM) covered by insurance, and building a bridge towards Value Based Care bundled services.

Why is everyone talking about protein? From influencers online to your cousin at the family picnic, everyone seems to be focused on eating more protein — and for good reason. Protein does much more than help build muscle. It also plays an important role in: - Keeping you fuller for longer and helping reduce mindless snacking - Supporting muscle mass, which helps maintain a healthy metabolism - Helping stabilize blood sugar when paired with carbohydrates - Supporting healthy, sustainable weight loss goals So, how much protein do you actually need? While everyone's needs are different, many people benefit from aiming for around 30 grams of protein at each meal. Some easy ways to get there: 🥚 Eggs, egg whites, black beans, and cheese (32g protein) 🐟 Salmon, broccoli, and brown rice (30g protein) 🍗 Chicken, high-protein pasta salad, and greens (33g protein) One question we hear often is whether you need protein powder to hit your goals. The answer? Not necessarily. Many people can meet their protein needs through food alone, though supplements can be helpful in certain situations. Our latest blog dives into: ✔️ Why protein matters for weight loss ✔️ How much protein you really need ✔️ The best sources of protein ✔️ Common questions about protein powders and digestion What's your favorite way to add more protein to your day? 🔗 Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/gDDCPdHt Written by: Katie Skoglund Interested in learning more about Salvo Health? This is a great opportunity for a rising PM to learn the discipline of product management from the incomparable Mary J. Moreno and advance whole patient health that can affect millions of sufferers from GI and liver metabolic conditions. Come build with us!
I'm hiring a (US-based, fully remote) Product Manager, and I'm looking for someone who's ready to be a true owner. 🦾 You speak design and engineering fluently, you're motivated by moving the needle on real outcomes (not just shipping for the sake of it), and you're excited to tackle your next big challenge in health tech. In the near term, you'll lead major roadmap initiatives from research and ideation through launch, including integrating agentic AI into clinical decision support for our incredible clinical team. Your scope will span the Salvo patient experience, clinician platform, and internal tools. Ideal background: health tech or digital health experience with a generalist lean, some exposure to clinical workflows or virtual care delivery, and a track record of shipping features end-to-end. Salvo Health is a virtual-first GI care platform that grew patient volume 800% last year (with even bigger things planned this year!). We're small enough that what you ship matters immediately, and big enough that it affects real patients, clinicians, and operations teams every day. Link to apply in the comments and please share with your networks! 👇

Salvo Health is hiring! Both senior and junior developers in the US, see below.
Hey new grads! Congratulations! There's a lot of (legitimate) concern about job prospects for entry-level SWE. When AI tools make it very easy to code, skill in that domain is no longer the differentiator that it once was for engineers. But writing code has never really been the point - we build software to solve problems, and I'd guess that for almost all companies, the most important and challenging problems usually aren't solved by writing code, but instead with careful thinking, design, and discussion. This is what the job really is! We're hiring Software Engineers at all experience levels - including Junior - because I don't believe Senior Engineers have a monopoly on the traits that make Engineers effective. For AAPI Heritage Month, Salvo Health's Registered Dietitian Agnes Kim, MS, RD, LDN, CNSC wrote a piece exploring the cultural and emotional dimensions of eating, and why those dimensions matter just as much as the nutritional ones. The Korean phrase "Bap meogeosseoyo?" (Have you eaten yet?) isn't just about rice. It's a form of care — a way of asking: how are you doing? It's something Kim grew up hearing, and something that continues to inform her approach to working with patients. Read on to learn more, plus two simple Korean recipes that help her feel grounded. #registereddietitian #aapiheritagemonth #foodasmedicine

Big news for Salvo with the landmark GI report from Peterson Health Technology Institute (PHTI) citing GI multidisciplinary care as the biggest area of savings for payers they have ever studied. And that GI should be at the top of the list immediately for every payer and system to deploy these kind of continuous care programs.
So grateful for the congratulatory notes from so many on the report on #GI that the Peterson Health Technology Institute (PHTI) just published. 🌟 ⚕️ 🪩 "The GI category has the strongest economic [savings] finding that Peterson Health Technology Institute (PHTI) has ever published" 🙌 🎇 was their conclusion. (link in comments) Salvo Health was one of three #multidisciplinary care startups cited as the model for #IBS and #IBD care, building under physician supervision (superior to models that did not work under a GI provider). Peterson found #bigsavings-- nearly $3,000 a year in NET savings PER PATIENT 💰 💵 💲 for payers from these multidisciplinary daily care programs. This proves what we have believed from our founding... millions of GI chronic patients bounce around the system, lacking care between visits and with unresolved symptoms, ending up in the ER, or seeking duplicate tests with different specialists in #desperation. And fixing this can save the SYSTEM money, while rescuing underserved populations (our patients are 84% women of all ages). We have shown in 5 accepted research abstracts that the great majority can see #SymptomImprovements within 90 days with programs like Salvo... with a whole health, root cause, interdisciplinary approach, including brain-gut psychology, food as medicine, and behavioral health interventions. Salvo has become the leader in partnering with GI providers, contracted with over 700 GI physicians across the US. We are now in partnership with providers approaching payers and payviders about value-based, outcome-oriented contracting, given that better care can cost less in the end. Please reach out to me or Amanda Sussex our Partnerships leaders if you want to learn more. Big gratitude to our investors who have believed in us: Threshold Ventures, City Light Capital, ManchesterStory, Torch Capital, Felicis, The Artemis Fund, Impact X Capital Partners LLP, Owl Capital, Contour Venture Partners and others. Thanks to our incredible team at Salvo Health and to amazing partners like Gastro Health, United Digestive, Allied Digestive Health, Pinnacle GI Partners, and others who are co-developing and pioneering better care. #Onward. 🏆 🏥 🩺 👩⚕️

Today, in honor of Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) Day — established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics — we’re celebrating the incredible dietitians on our in-house team. Every day, they partner with Salvo patients to build healthy, sustainable habits, meeting them where they are and helping them make meaningful progress toward their goals. We asked our RDs what they love most about being a dietitian. Their answers are a powerful reminder of why this work matters. This National Nutrition Month®, we’re invited to “Discover the Power of Nutrition.” One powerful place to start? Exploring the impact of culturally rooted dietary patterns. A growing body of research shows that traditional, culturally rooted diets are associated with improved diet quality and better cardiometabolic outcomes. In many cases, they are healthier than more Westernized eating patterns. At Salvo Health, registered dietitian Manuela Herrera explains why nutrition guidance that honors culture isn’t just respectful — it’s more sustainable, more equitable, and ultimately more effective. She also shares a practical example, including how to boost the protein content of arepas without sacrificing their cultural foundation.
