We love internship season because we get to see the world through fresh eyes while mentoring the next generation of builders who will help shape the world’s skylines. This year our interns were spectacular from day one, it was exciting to watch them grow, build confidence, and become part of the herd. Here are just a few highlights from the summer: 🦬 Purpose Builder Roundtable: They kicked off the summer with a chat along the Chicago River, taking in the iconic buildings surrounding them and learning about the companies that built the historic skyline. They traded questions with Jed Richard about leadership, impact, and the values that define Richard: gratitude, resilience, excellence, adventure, and transparency. 🏢 Industry Partner Tours: Tours are the runaway favorite every year, so we doubled up. Thank you Cresa and Modine Manufacturing Company for the behind-the-scenes look. 🤝 Purpose Builder Volunteer Day: Giving back is a huge part of our culture, as a company and as people. Our interns felt that firsthand at the Iglesia Evangelica Emanuel (IEE) Food Pantry, rolling up their sleeves to sort and stock food for the neighborhood. 🚧 Crisis Simulation Workshop: A group project highlight that took place around Jed’s home, where interns worked through a real project crisis from start to finish. They walked away with a better understanding of their own strengths and an appreciation for the strengths of the people beside them. 📋 Capstone Presentations: Over three days, our Project Engineer interns were buzzing with energy as they created their individual bids, putting their estimating, scheduling, communication, and time management skills to the test. Our Marketing & Business Development, Finance, and Technology interns showcased top projects and everything they picked up along the way. This year's interns raised the bar, earning the highest overall Capstone scores in the history of the program. Congratulations to our amazing winners: 🥇 Verina Stasinopoulos 🥈 Nathan Schaaf 🥉 Jasmine Porter and Cole Beyer We're proud of this group in a way that's hard to put in a caption. They showed up curious, asked the questions nobody else was asking, and jumped into work most people wouldn't hand a summer intern. The office is going to feel quieter without them...Although we're pretty sure the team in HQ is looking forward to having a little more lunch left in the fridge. 😂 Good luck this semester! We can't wait to see everything you accomplish next. 🔗 Click here to learn more about our internship program: https://bit.ly/4whPUww

Recently, we welcomed our favorite demolition experts to the office for one of our favorite days of the year: Bring Your Kid to Work Day! 👷 They kicked off the day just like any job site, with a safety talk led by Liv, one of our Project Engineer interns. Once the hard hats were on and safety vests were zipped, they were ready to get to work. The day was packed with office tours, building and coloring activities, ping pong and foosball matches, and plenty of opportunities to burn off energy as they raced from one adventure to the next. Of course, no workday is complete without ice cream sundaes and the chance to ring the bell to celebrate a new project win. 🔔 We had a blast spending the day with the next generation of builders. Everyone left with great memories, and we're pretty sure the kids left with some of the candy from our desks! 🍬

Something big happened at Richard. 🥂 We're now employee owned through an ESOP. Not sold. Not acquired. Not handed off to someone who's never set foot on one of our sites. Richard now belongs to the people who show up, carry the work, and build with purpose every single day. That's you. That's us. That's all of us. As Jed Richard put it, this isn't an exit strategy, it's a growth strategy. We're not done building. We're just getting started. Purpose built. Employee owned. And yeah, we raised a glass. 🦬 #PurposeBuiltEmployeeOwned 🔗 Read the full announcement in the comments!

For 34 days, our Purpose Builders broke into teams and competed in a month-long step challenge. 👟 In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we wanted to bring our team together for some friendly competition, encourage everyone to get moving, and create opportunities to connect along the way. If this challenge proved anything, it's that our team doesn't take competition lightly. Some fun highlights: 👟 Three team members surpassed three quarters of a million steps during the challenge. 🌅 Early mornings became the norm, with one stepper getting up at 5 a.m. walking more steps in one morning than most do all week. 🎧 Audiobooks, playlists, favorite songs, and walking routes were shared across teams to help keep everyone motivated. 🧑🍳 Even our HQ chef got in on the fun and cooked the competition with 26,000 steps in a single day. Swipe through to meet the team members who walked away with bragging rights! We couldn't be more grateful to have a team that's always up for a challenge and eager to cheer each other on (we see you, Tim). We can't wait to see what everyone brings to the next one.

We're proud to share that Richard has been named to Crain's Chicago Business Fast 50 for the fifth year, ranking #27 on the 2026 list. 🏆 This year, we were also the only architecture, engineering, and construction firm to make it. The Fast 50 celebrates companies driving growth, innovation, and job creation across Chicagoland. Twelve years in, the growth still surprises us. What doesn't surprise us is what's behind it: our people, our partners, and the purpose we've built on since 2014. In 2025, we welcomed 82 new team members, gave $263,000 back to our communities, and logged 1,150 volunteer hours. That's the part of the story the ranking doesn't show. Most importantly, this one belongs to the herd. Thank you to every Purpose Builder who shows up, lifts each other up, and builds the momentum behind every milestone. Here's to building what's next. 🦬 🔗 Read the full announcement in the comments! #TheRichardPressRoom

18 interns. 11 schools. 5 states. One unforgettable summer. Meet our 2026 summer interns. Week one is barely behind them and they're already stepping into roles as Project Engineers, Financial Analysts, Marketing Coordinators, and Technology Engineers. Our CEO Jed Richard kicked things off with a riverside chat highlighting the builders who shaped Chicago's skyline, and a reminder that the relationships you build matter just as much. From their first professional headshot to mentorship that lasts, we're proud to help them cross the threshold into their careers. Interns, we can't wait to see the amazing things you will do. Welcome to the herd. 🦬 hashtag #2026RichardInterns
