  • Most revenue cycle teams run some version of a payment variance tool, and for a narrow category of underpayment, it does its job well. The problem is what falls outside that narrow category. There are at least three ways hospitals get shortchanged where the claim still looks perfectly normal on paper: the payment matches what was billed, nothing trips an alert, and the account closes without anyone knowing money was left behind. We broke down all three in a new article, along with why they add up to more revenue than most teams assume.  Read more: https://lnkd.in/ekkeAT6n

  • Hospitals spent an estimated $43 billion in 2025 chasing payments insurers already owed for care already delivered, per the AHA's latest Costs of Caring report. A growing share of that comes from claims that never get a decision at all, held in review instead of denied outright. Appeals need a denial code and a reason to push back on. A claim stuck in review offers neither, just calls and resubmissions with no clock forcing a resolution. Revecore Chief Revenue Officer Michael Ford, J.D. looks at why this pattern is spreading and how hospitals can catch these claims before they age out. • Wrangling the Changing Cost Curve in Healthcare Healthcare leaders have spent the past few years navigating recovery, but the financial environment continues to change beneath the surface. As an aging population, shifting payer mix, and reimbursement pressures reshape hospital economics, predictability is becoming harder to achieve and operational complexity continues to grow. In a recent conversation, Revecore CEO Noah Breslow and Head of Marketing Angela Troccoli shared why these trends are changing how health systems think about revenue cycle. As complexity grows, revenue cycle becomes one of the first places where emerging financial pressures appear, making it a critical part of protecting long-term financial performance. • As payer review processes become more complex, some claims can remain in limbo for months without a formal denial or a clear path to resolution. That uncertainty creates challenges far beyond reimbursement, affecting forecasting, prioritization, and day-to-day revenue cycle operations. In a recent HealthIT - Answers Media Network article, Revecore Chief Revenue Officer Michael Ford, J.D. examines why hospitals need better visibility into these stalled claims and shares practical strategies for identifying them earlier. • As denial rates continue to climb, many health systems are investing in additional staff, new technology, or more layers of review. Those efforts can help, but they often leave the underlying challenge untouched. In her latest article, Revecore's Angela Troccoli explores why rising denials point to a broader operating model issue. When patient access, coding, billing, and collections work in silos, shared problems become harder to identify, resolve, and prevent. The organizations making meaningful progress are strengthening governance, aligning teams, and standardizing processes before layering on technology. • A recent poll of hospital revenue cycle leaders confirmed what we're seeing across the market: denial prioritization is becoming a strategic decision, informed by recovery potential, payer behavior, and long-term financial impact. During an HFMA Region 4, Revecore Solutions Advisor Melissa Miskell, MBA asked attendees how they prioritize denials. Nearly half said they focus on recovery potential and financial impact instead of a first-in, first-out approach, reflecting a broader shift toward more deliberate, data-informed denial strategies. In her latest article, Missy explores how payer AI is changing the economics of denial appeals, what providers are doing to prioritize appeals more strategically, and the questions every revenue cycle team should be asking about its own denial strategy. • Agentic AI is one of the most talked-about, and perhaps least understood, terms in healthcare technology right now. In our latest Revecore conversation, Firoze Lafeer, SVP of Data Engineering, and Angela Troccoli, Head of Marketing, break down agentic AI and what hospital leaders need to think about before building an AI strategy. Their conversation digs into the practical difference between a chat-based AI tool and an agentic system that monitors, detects patterns, and acts on its own, why that distinction matters operationally, and the foundational steps organizations should take before investing in AI internally.
