How do we balance economic growth, operational efficiency, and environmental responsibility? That was the focus of a recent visit to Virginia International Gateway by US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Van Blarcom-Lackey, where we discussed the importance of sustainable supply chains and the critical role ports play in supporting agricultural exports. At America's Most Modern Gateway, we're committed to moving cargo efficiently, safely, and sustainably. Through our long-standing partnership with the EPA, we're helping shape a future where commerce and sustainability go hand in hand. The Port of Virginia is your gateway to America. From our strategic location, we serve more inland markets via rail than any other port on the U.S. East Coast. And, we recently further expanded that reach with a new rail connection to Indianapolis, providing direct access to one of the Midwest’s leading and fastest-growing markets. The next generation of trade demands speed and efficiency, no matter the distance, and America's Most Modern Gateway is meeting that demand. The Port 460 Logistics Center is a transformative project for our region. With 5 million square feet of industrial space and located less than 25 miles from The Port of Virginia's facilities, Port 460 is yet another example of how Virginia's strategic investments are driving future growth. The goal is for every tenant of the Port 460 Logistics Center to leverage what is happening at America’s Most Modern Gateway to their advantage: modern logistics and warehousing centers near modern ports is a recipe for success.
Rockefeller Group, Matan Companies and more than 75 attendees celebrated the official completion of Buildings 1 and 2 as well as the beginning of vertical construction of Building 3 at Port 460 (www.port460.com) in Suffolk, Virginia. Matan’s Vincent Burke MC’d the event and City of Suffolk, VA Mayor Mike Duman, The Port of Virginia CEO and Executive Director Sarah McCoy and Rockefeller Group’s Nick Salameda delivered remarks. “I stand here today almost four years to the day since we approved this project and I’ve had to privilege of watching this project from the beginning and it’s amazing transformation into what we see here today… two amazing, completed buildings with construction activity being done throughout the property on the remaining buildings these companies have planned.” --- Mayor Duman “It’s extremely rare to see a development of this size that has taken such a mindful approach and a focus on the details. The developers have taken a cohesive community approach strategy, relying on local trades, local vendors and local businesses on everything that you see and I’m proud to have Port 460 as a key component of our $1.4 billion investment in Virginia’s port.” --- Sarah McCoy “At this exciting milestone, the tilting of the walls marks the vertical construction start for the largest building in the park - a building, that when delivered, will have no direct competitors immediately available anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic. This building reaffirms Rockefeller Group and Matan’s commitment to delivering the best possible project right here in Suffolk and all throughout the Mid-Atlantic.” --- Nick Salameda JLL's Port 460 Leasing Team: Todd Hughes, Gregg Christoffersen, Brian Devlin Partners: Kimley-Horn, Clancy & Theys Construction Company, M+H Architects
