New technology is giving our teams an even clearer picture of conditions in the field. PG&E is the first organization to put a new integration between Watch Duty and Planet to use, giving our teams access to more current, high-resolution satellite imagery directly within the Watch Duty Platform. That means another valuable source of information to help our teams assess wildfire events, better understand conditions in the field and make more informed decisions. We’re proud to work with Watch Duty and Planet to explore innovative tools that can help us continue strengthening our wildfire mitigation efforts.

Watch Duty is integrating our satellite data into their enterprise platform, with Pacific Gas and Electric Company joining as the first adopter. From our Co-Founder & CEO Will Marshall: “This integration combines Watch Duty's vital on-the-ground context with Planet's overhead view, empowering teams at utilities like PG&E to move from reactive crisis management to proactive solutions to help protect people, property, and the environment."

Better decisions start with better information. Planet's high-resolution satellite imagery is now coming to Watch Duty Enterprise. ➡️ New weekly images, instead of uncertain timelines that can be 4-12+ months out of date. ➡️ Clear visuals to show vegetation, fuel loads, burn scars, road access, and infrastructure corridors. ➡️ Now, critical infrastructure teams have current view of conditions on the ground combined with the context of Watch Duty's real-time incident intelligence, human-validated reporting, and enterprise asset mapping. Our thanks to Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the first organization to adopt the integration, using the new imagery layers within Watch Duty to support wildfire mitigation, field operations, and investigations. As wildfire seasons grow longer and more complex, we're bringing you tools for faster, more informed decisions when seconds count. Read more in our announcement: lnkd.in/eK6GvC-Y

Ask the Earth a question and get an answer. 🌎 That’s the vision behind Planet’s new agentic AI app, which is now in open beta. It’s bringing us another step closer to Planetary Intelligence. Earth observation data holds immense value, but navigating it traditionally required specialized GIS skills. We wanted to change that. By lowering the barrier to entry, this tool allows anyone to interact with satellite data, and turn it into value for your organization. 💬 Give it a try: https://lnkd.in/gPaW9hRY

The TED Conferences stage has always been a place for bold ideas about the future, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share Planet’s vision of Planetary Intelligence. In this talk, I outline how sensors in space, real-time connectivity and computation will power a kind of planetary nervous system.  And that Earth Data when combined with LLMs and AI can create a Large Earth Model - an AI that is keenly aware of the physical reality of what’s happening on our changing planet.  But ultimately, this is about embracing these technologies as a farmer, an insurer, a development banker, or an intelligence analyst. Transforming our workflows to be more planetarily aware and has the potential to evolve and create new institutions and companies on our dynamic, living planet. This is the third time Planet have been on the TED mainstage - the first time in 2014 to announce our Daily Imaging Mission and the second one in 2018 - quite prescient in today’s age of AI - discussing Earth Data and AI (links below in comments).  But our mission is consistent; from the beginning, Planet has been on a mission to create a new way of seeing Earth, providing an independent source of truth about what’s happening around our world every day. Now, with the rise of AI, we have an opportunity to transform that understanding into action. Thank you to the TED team and everyone who has helped bring this vision to life. We’re partnering with the Government of Rwanda to launch a new national satellite data program. This deal marks Planet’s first national program of its kind in Africa. Overseen by the Rwanda Space Agency, the initiative provides Planet data to government agencies, public universities, and selected startups. The data will help with monitoring agriculture and food security, tracking forest health and resilience, refining urban planning and zoning, and informing disaster planning, response, and recovery.   👉 Learn more about the partnership: https://lnkd.in/gDDksWEv

Can you tell the difference between Earth and Mars? 🤔 At first glance, it's harder than you might think. Two of the images below captured Earth with our PlanetScope constellation. The others were taken by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), which has been orbiting Mars since 2006. Drop your guesses in the comments: Which images are Earth and which are Mars? 🌍 🚀
