Last Friday, Ohio’s tech community traded laptops for a day of service. The first-ever statewide OhioX Give Back Day brought together more than 100 volunteers across Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, Akron, and Toledo — including company teams, startups, remote workers, founders, and tech professionals from across the state. And the impact looked a little different in every community: In Dayton, volunteers led by Technology First spent the morning at Crayons to Classrooms, preparing school supplies for local teachers ahead of the new school year. In Columbus, tech pros volunteered at Frank’s Park with Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, removing invasive plants and helping with park cleanup. In Cincinnati, pros volunteered at The Freestore Foodbank, packing meals and supporting food distribution across Greater Cincinnati. In Akron, volunteering was at Bounce Innovation Hub where pros gave the place a refresh to support local entrepreneurs and founders. In Toledo, tech pros supported Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful, Inc. by helping with litter cleanups and recycling. And in Cleveland, volunteers spent the morning with Cleveland Metroparks, helping clean up the park system. We’re incredibly grateful to our partners at Path Robotics (April Adams and Alexandra Scheiman), Technology First (Melissa Cutcher), Big Kitty Labs (Tushar Kulkarni), and Outreach Promos (Nevin Bansal) for helping bring the day together — and helping us create our fourth OhioX shirt along the way. One of our favorite parts: for some volunteers, Give Back Day was their very first OhioX event. Our work is all about connecting and growing Ohio’s tech and innovation community. Give Back Day gave us a chance to build those connections while doing something tangible for the communities where we live and work. This was only year one. We’re excited to grow it from here. Thank you to all who joined and made GBD 26 possible. A few photos from across Ohio. 👇
