There were some special moments as members of our leadership team visited #TeamOReilly this week, including celebrating two big anniversaries and helping a store during a power outage! O'Reilly President Brent Kirby said, "It has been a great week spending time with Ramon Odems and our store and distribution center teams in the Great Lakes region. The O'Reilly culture value of excellent customer service is alive and well! My appreciation to all these teams for what they do each and every day to out hustle our competition and serve our customers."

As part of our partnership with the NASCAR Local Racing Series, we’re highlighting one of our outstanding stores alongside a local racetrack. This week we celebrate Coos Bay Speedway and our store in Coos Bay, Oregon. Race fans enjoy the speedway’s 3/8 mile banked NASCAR dirt oval, as well as drag races and seasonal events that bring the local community together. #TeamOReilly in Coos Bay shows their dirt-track love as a sponsor of the speedway. Store Manager Toby Ridenour says the track relies on his team for their equipment upkeep and the drivers depend on them to keep their cars racing. The store displays a full-size monster truck in the parking lot during the speedway’s epic annual monster truck show, opens early for its other events, and delivers parts directly to the track. This small-but-mighty team is in charge of storage for our bulkiest parts – those that can’t fit on a conveyor belt. They’re ahead of schedule building a new rack design that will improve performance and accuracy at our Greensboro, North Carolina, distribution center. Their work on the new design will play a critical role in keeping operations safe, efficient, and organized.

Safe driving is a responsibility shared by every member of #TeamOReilly, not just those who operate company vehicles. Every team member completes regular training modules on traffic safety, and our professional drivers get additional training and education. Learning and Development Operations Support Manager Tanner Voyles says, “We equip every team member with the knowledge and habits needed to make safer decisions behind the wheel. Our commitment to traffic safety is ultimately a commitment to our people because nothing is more important than helping every team member return home safely.”

Statistically, driving at night is more dangerous than driving during daylight hours, but Fernando Rodriguez says night driving is his favorite. “At night, it’s just me and the truck on the road. The truck feels like my office.” We’re impressed and grateful that Fernando has driven one million safe miles in “his office,” and he’s still trucking. Even though this customer’s battery was “A bit of a challenge, not the easy kind,” Assistant Store Manager Don Higgins says it was nothing out of the ordinary for him. But to a customer in a rush on Mother’s Day, Don’s effort to explain things thoroughly and take care of her promptly not only kept her car running, but also allowed her family to get to their game on time.
