I'm a teeny bit late to this, but here's my take on Dassault Systèmes’ proposed acquisition of ArisGlobal. I'll keep it short, and you can read more in the blog attached: 1. We may need to rethink what end-to-end is: This is more than a pharmacovigilance deal. It points to a broader shift in how life sciences companies may think about integrated R&D. For years, “end-to-end” has largely meant end-to-end within individual functions — clinical operations, safety, regulatory, quality, or manufacturing. That definition is starting to change. By bringing ArisGlobal’s safety, regulatory, quality, and medical affairs capabilities alongside Medidata and Dassault Systèmes’ broader portfolio, the opportunity is to create a continuous evidence loop across the therapy lifecycle. 2. AI is at the core of the acquisition, sure. There's also the opportunity of what the AI can connect. If executed right, it also means that insights generated later in the lifecycle can meaningfully improve earlier R&D decisions. Can a safety signal influence protocol design or monitoring? Can post-market evidence improve benefit-risk decisions? Can clinical and safety intelligence operate on a common foundation for AI? If that happens, development starts looking less like a linear process ending at approval ..... and more like a system that continuously learns. Getting there will need a few things to fall in place: We are looking at a tighter integration, a strong data governance / validation layer, and good domain capabilities. Patients aren't just asking for a seat at the table to offer feedback: they are also voicing their right to co-create the rules for how AI is designed, validated, and deployed in healthcare settings. AI can only earn its place in medicine when patients trust how technology is built and utilized. Moving beyond tokenistic panels to collaborative models is how we establish safer, more empathetic, and more effective clinical trials. When we involve diverse patient communities from the start, we ensure all innovation serves real human lives. "Nothing about us, without us" must apply to the algorithms defining the future of care.
