Did you know pediatric amblyopia affects approximately one child in every classroom, making it the leading cause of preventable vision loss in kids? Unfortunately, children covered by Medicaid often experience poorer outcomes and face greater barriers to successful care compared to their commercially insured peers. Join MHPA President and CEO Craig Kennedy and Dr. Maanasa Indaram (UCSF) for a crucial webinar discussing these health disparities. We will explore why conventional standard-of-care treatments—like eye patching—are difficult for families and often fail to provide lasting results, especially for Medicaid populations. We will also introduce Luminopia an innovative FDA-authorized treatment designed to address these unmet needs and improve outcomes for all children. Targeted toward Medicaid MCO leaders dedicated to closing care gaps, this is Part One of a three-part series you won't want to miss. 🗓️ Date: August 4, 2026 ⏰ Time: 2:00 PM ET 🔗 Register now: https://ow.ly/1QLf50ZumBU #Medicaid #MCOs #PediatricHealth #HealthDisparities #VisionCare #HealthcareInnovation

Great to spend a few days at the National Association of State Budget Officers Annual Meeting talking all things #HR1 #medicaid, and rate setting. Very helpful to hear from State Budget Officers around the country about the challenges they’re facing and the creative solutions they’re putting forward. Thank you to Shelby Kerns for the invitation, and the continued partnership. In awe of Shelby and the entire NASBO team. They put on a really wonderful, engaging event!

Medicaid provides comprehensive healthcare and long-term care coverage to about 80 million low-income Americans, including more than 3 million Ohioans. Nationally, about 78% of Medicaid beneficiaries are enrolled in a managed care plan. In Ohio, that number is closer to 90%. Why do so many states, including Ohio, rely on the managed care model? Craig Kennedy, president & CEO of Medicaid Health Plans of America (MHPA), breaks it down in a new blog. He explains how managed care gives states budget predictability, gives members coordinated, whole-person care, and holds health plans accountable for measurable health outcomes. Read Craig’s full take below on the benefits of Medicaid managed care and the important role it plays in our nation’s healthcare delivery system. https://lnkd.in/eNH_Exef

On Wednesday, MHPA submitted a comment letter to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Oz and Deputy Administrator Daniel Brillman on the Medicaid Managed Care State Directed Payments and Medicaid Fee-for-Service Targeted Medicaid Practitioner Payments Proposed Rule. Our letter articulates the concerns raised by our members that if finalized as proposed, the provisions will: 🔹 Reduce Medicaid payment flexibility 🔹 Threaten provider participation & network stability 🔹 Increase wait times 🔹 Limit access to care for Medicaid enrollees MHPA’s letter outlines recommendations to safeguard enrollee access to care and preserve provider network stability in Medicaid. Please read our comment letter for more details. https://lnkd.in/eHkRhuEe #Medicaid #HealthPolicy #CMS #ManagedCare #HealthcareAccess
