Wish kid Kyler loves ceiling fans more than ANYTHING. His favorite things to do are turn them on himself and watch YouTube videos of them spinning. So when asked what his one true wish would be, his mom, Natalie, knew the answer. Kyler communicates in limited ways, but his love for fans needs no explaining. So when his home chapter Make-A-Wish® South Carolina reached out, we knew just who to call. Our friends at Big Ass Fans (BAF) rolled out the red carpet for Kyler and his family at his VIP ceiling fan experience. From their leadership and marketing to manufacturing and their mascot, Fannie, every level of their team got involved. He toured the private factory, saw how fans are made, and explored the showroom where he got to press ALL of the buttons and watch the biggest fan in the world spin to his heart's content. Although they were the ones granting his wish, BAF said that Kyler's smile brought all the magic to their team. Kyler gets to take the joy of his wish day home with him in the form of a BAF fan of his very own for his room. More than 20 years ago, Philip's life changed in an instant when he was diagnosed with cancer. Through a journey of hope and resilience, wish kid Philip is now a Doctor of Chiropractic in Northern Kentucky and brings this hope to his community through his chiropractic and wellness practice. Once he was approved for a wish, he met with his wish coordinators to dream about what was possible. "Our wish contacts greeted us with a smile and said, 'Wish big, and we will wish even bigger." Philip wished for his parents' basement to be transformed into a soccer field. Months later, he came home to a surprise reveal: a soccer-themed space complete with a stadium mural featuring Philip. It became a place where he spent thousands of hours playing with family and friends. A wish that truly kept on givin That wish continues to give. Now Philip is wishing it forward by donating $1 from every copy of his book purchased online or at his upcoming book signing to Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana. If you lined up 23,000 wish kids, you would see thousands of different stories, medical journeys, and dreams. This summer, we're celebrating our 23,000th wish, thanks to WishMakers like you! Our milestone wish was granted to 14-year-old wish kid Braelyn, whose wish was to go to Destin, Florida, with her family. For Braelyn and her family, the wish represented more than a vacation. It was a celebration of her resilience and progress throughout treatment. "What connects our wish kids and families is the moment when hope becomes something tangible. Braelyn's wish reminds us that while children may spend months or even years focused on treatments, appointments, and recovery, a wish gives them the chance to focus on being a kid, making memories with the people they love and looking forward to what's next,” said our President and CEO, Juli Miller. In August 2022, Braelyn began experiencing headaches. After multiple doctor visits and an MRI, physicians discovered a brain tumor, which was surgically removed. When the tumor later began growing again, she began chemotherapy treatments and is now nearing the completion of those treatments. “This trip was a celebration of how far Braelyn has come," said Heather, Braelyn's mom. "For a week, she wasn't focused on treatments or doctor's appointments. She was focused on the beach, snorkeling, dolphins and spending time with her family. The memories we made together are something we'll cherish forever. For World Wish Month, our team set out with the goal of raising enough through staff donations to grant one wish. Not only did our team surpass the goal of granting a wish — we nearly raised enough to grant TWO wishes! These folks grant wishes like it's their job⭐(literally). In exchange for meeting our goal, our VP of Marketing and Community Engagement, Chris Holtman, volunteered to take a pie to the face, inspired by our dear Wish Grantor, Indianapolis Colts Mascot Blue!
