About us
International Community Health Services (ICHS) is a nonprofit community health center that offers affordable health care services to Seattle and King County’s Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities, as well as other underserved communities. Each year, ICHS provides direct patient care, health support services, and preventive education to over 28,300 individuals. For over 40 years, ICHS has provided culturally-appropriate and multilingual care to improve the health of our community. ICHS began in 1973 as a small storefront clinic in Seattle’s International District. Today it is the largest Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander community health center in Washington state.

Congratulations John!! Today, our dear colleague John Marrin, DNP, FNP-BC was recognized as a 2026 Healthcare Hero by the Puget Sound Business Journal. Bill Hoskyn, ICHS Advanced Practice Provider, kindly accepted the award on John's behalf at this wonderful luncheon celebrating local health professionals that make a difference in the health of our community. John and other awardees “face off against healthcare challenges every day, meeting rising demand with innovation, proficiency and empathy," writes the PSBJ. John Marrin is a key advocate in the fight to eliminate HIV here in King County. His leadership has made ICHS’ HIV continuum of care – the steps that people living with HIV go through from diagnosis to achieving and maintaining viral suppression – more efficient then ever. Congratulations all on this well-deserved recognition!! Last week, our Behavioral Health team held their annual team retreat at our Ron Chew Healthy Aging and Wellness Center! The retreat offered an opportunity for everyone to reflect on accomplishments, lessons learned, and complete new trainings. Behavioral health services have been an integral part of ICHS in our primary care, Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, and our school-based health centers. At the end of 2025 we opened our Outpatient #BehavioralHealth services, offering long term therapy and long term psychiatric medication management to our patients. Together, our mission is to promote good health for a lifetime through health access, essential services, and supportive relationships. #ValueCHCs #CommunityHealth

👏 Go M's! 👏 ICHS staff and our student families from the Bellevue School District had a blast attending the M's v Toronto Blue Jays at T-Mobile Park last Friday, July 3, during the USA's birthday weekend! Through MARINERS CARE, Major League Baseball, and the MLB Players Association, the Commissioner's Community Initiative and MLB & Players Give Back programs provide the opportunity for thousands of children and seniors to attend Seattle Mariners home games through ticket donations to non-profit organizations. We are so grateful that our staff and student patients could attend!

Congratulations Dr. Sunmi Stephanie Wentzel! ✨🎓🩺 Join us in a big round of applause for our incredible 2026 Family Medicine Residency graduate, Dr. Sunmi! They just completed three years of residency at ICHS' International District clinic as a family practice doctor. They are the eighth cohort to graduate from ICHS' #MedicalResidency in partnership with Swedish Cherry Hill. Dr. Sunmi has been a passionate, inspiring, intelligent, full-spectrum family physician working closely alongside our community health center staff. They have delivered culturally and linguistically competent care to ICHS patients of all ages and backgrounds for the past three years. We are so proud of Sunmi and so grateful for everything they've taught us about being better physicians and better advocates for our patients! Dr. Sunmi grew up in a military family, moving frequently between South Korea and the U.S. They attended medical school at Ohio State University, where they worked as a clinic coordinator for the Asian Free Clinic to ensure that the same community that supported them to become a doctor would have access to medical care. They will be staying in Seattle for their Reproductive Health Access Fellowship at UW, and they are excited to become a future comprehensive reproductive health provider and continue practicing full-spectrum family medicine! We wish you the best on your journey ahead! - - - - - Established in 2016, ICHS partners with Swedish Family Medicine Residency/Cherry Hill Program to provide a clinical site where family medicine residents may train to provide health care to members in a unique community health care setting.
