Intermountain Health Impact Players of the week for the 2026 season, along with their families and other community partners, heard from leaders and worked together to assemble 1,000 mental health resource kits to take back to their schools and communities. The event reinforced a simple but powerful message: the strongest play is asking for help. A new chapter in the fight against pancreatic cancer. Intermountain Health is proud to be part of a national initiative providing eligible patients with advanced pancreatic cancer access to daraxonrasib, an investigational therapy that nearly doubled survival rates in initial clinical trials. Ten Intermountain hospitals across Utah, Colorado, and Montana have joined the FDA-approved Expanded Access Protocol, helping bring promising treatment options to patients closer to home. For a disease that has long been one of the most difficult cancers to treat, advances like this offer renewed hope. As Dr. Mark Lewis, director of gastrointestinal oncology at Intermountain Health, noted, “I can’t remember the last time I saw such a positive leap forward in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. Behind every caregiver is a unique story. After fleeing the war in Ukraine with her son and mother, Olha Svieshnikova began rebuilding her life in Utah. Today, she is part of the team at Intermountain Health Alta View Hospital in Sandy, where she works in nutrition services, serving patients, visitors, and caregivers. During a challenging season of life, Olha also rediscovered a childhood passion for painting. Her abstract artwork has since been featured in international exhibitions and recognized in global competitions, creating opportunities to share her work with audiences around the world. For many people, health decisions are made long before they enter a clinic or hospital. They happen at the grocery store, around the kitchen table, and in the everyday choices families make to meet basic needs. Access to nutritious food is one of the social drivers of health, and when that access is limited, the impact can be felt across every stage of life. Today, nearly one in seven households nationwide experience food insecurity, including more than 14 million children. Since 2020, food insecurity has increased in all the communities we serve. As highlighted in our 2025 Annual Report (https://lnkd.in/gRyRRF6A), food insecurity continues to emerge as a significant health need across the communities we serve. That's why Intermountain Health invests nearly $1 million each year to help address this challenge. At Intermountain, we collaborate with our communities to understand their unique health needs and address the factors that impact well-being. One way we do that is through Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNAs), which nonprofit hospitals complete every three years.
