Last week, Northwood CEO Bridgit Mendler joined other founders and leaders at a roundtable hosted by J.P. Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon at Impulse Space HQ. On the table for discussion: how do you actually build for national security and resilience? What are the opportunities? The challenges? Looking around the room, there's the surface level of what each company has in common, but also the less obvious. To build rockets, reactors, hypersonics, autonomy, and space networks is to take on massive problem sets across engineering, physics, and business with operational excellence. And then scale to meet critical needs in commercial and government missions. What keeps us up at night is: if we can't build this capacity fast enough to meet the shortages that exist — from the very bare bones of the hardware itself, building the antennas, the modems, the software rack, all of it ourselves — then there are use cases that are very significant both to national security interests and to space that are not going to be addressed. We're grateful to the JP Morgan team for hosting the exchange of ideas and collaboration. And to Impulse Space, Nominal, Mach Industries, Valar Atomics, Hermeus, Varda Space Industries, Castelion, Hadrian, Radiant, and Neros Technologies for the discussion and for pushing their domains further, faster.
