About us
The IBEW represents 901,831 active. and retired who work in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government. The IBEW has members in both the United States and Canada and stands out among the American unions in the AFL-CIO because it is among the largest and has members in so many skilled occupations. As union members, we bargain collectively with our employers over wages, benefits, and rights. Most of us have very limited bargaining power as one person, but as a group, we are strong. And, with a good negotiated contract, we have legal protections we would not have otherwise. West Virginia has some of the least union-friendly policies in North America. In recent years, though, the state’s IBEW locals have had so much success landing projects that put members to work that it reliably has one of the union’s strongest market shares — even reaching No. 2 in recent months. https://bit.ly/4bzZ4wW

We don't just need more friends of labor in higher office. We need more IBEW members in higher office like IBEW Local 915 member and Florida State Senator Brian Nathan https://bit.ly/4hNKR3i

"You’d be walking in another part of town, and somebody would see you and say, ‘Hey there, brother!’ When you look across the #IBEW, there’s a lot of people who firmly believe in that brotherhood, that sisterhood, how meaningful it is to stand together." The electrical industry has some of the highest suicide rates in the nation. #IBEW Local 1547 is facing the mental health crisis head on, working with the 5th Wire, a mental health and suicide prevention program, to ensure all #IBEW members gets the support they need. https://bit.ly/3TZ2inz
