Dr. Mijail. Serruya is leading the discussion on the creation of a functional indication framework for implantable brain-computer interface (iBCI) systems during our #ASNR2026 Pre-Conference Workshop. How can we define who should be candidates for iBCI devices, and what outcomes can we monitor to determine if they are accomplishing what they are designed to accomplish? #ASNR2026 #BCI #iBCI iBCI Collaborative Community, Thomas Jefferson University

An engaging discussion is underway in our #ASNR2026 Pre-Conference workshop with iBCI Collaborative Community (iBCI-CC). Explaining device benefits to patients and colleagues isn't always easy, and the benefits will depend on each patient's specific circumstances. Members of the audience are providing their insights and expertise. #BCI #IBCI #braincomputerinterface

As we wrap up the year, we’d like to express our gratitude for the institutions and people who make the Implantable Brain-Computer Interface Collaborative Community (iBCI-CC) possible. We are deeply grateful to our Iridium-level sponsors—Blackrock Neurotech, Neuralink, Paradromics, Precision Neuroscience, and Synchron—for their ongoing leadership and support. These companies are pioneering the development of implantable brain-computer interfaces (iBCIs) aimed at restoring communication, mobility, and independence for individuals with paralysis. Their support reflects shared commitment and cooperation within the iBCI-CC’s chartered pre-competitive space to advancing iBCIs that are safe, effective, and accessible. We also extend our sincere thanks to Dana Foundation for their support, which helped strengthen the collaborative foundation of the iBCI-CC. This year marked an exciting milestone as we surpassed 500 members, bringing together industry, academic researchers, clinicians, regulators, patient advocates, people with lived experience of paralysis, and other stakeholders committed to advancing iBCIs. We are particularly grateful for our federal partners whose individual and personal engagement is so valuable in informing our discussion. At the heart of the iBCI-CC are our members, many of whom volunteer their time and expertise to participate in Workgroups, share insights, draft materials, and engage in thoughtful discussion. Their generosity and commitment are what turn shared goals into tangible progress. Sponsorship support and member engagement together enable the iBCI-CC to pursue critical initiatives that move the field forward, and we are grateful to all who contribute to this growing ecosystem. Thank you for an impactful year. We’re excited for what’s ahead! 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eUunmNFd
