As Lee’s Summit continues to grow, so does the need for public safety infrastructure that can support the community today and well into the future. Hoefer Welker designed the City’s new Joint Operations Facility to bring police and fire dispatch, fire administration, emergency operations and training together on one coordinated public safety campus. 🚒🚓 Designed around the people who use it every day, the facility includes flexible training and simulation spaces, quiet rooms, fitness areas, showers and kitchens to support staff through long and overnight shifts. Adaptable technology infrastructure also allows the building to evolve alongside future operational needs. From design through construction, it takes a team. 🏗️ Another successful year of the AEC Intern Partnership in Kansas City is in the books! This summer, the program brought together interns from the local offices of Hoefer Welker, BHC, Smith & Boucher, Inc., BSE Structural Engineers, LLC, Turner Construction Company and the City of Lenexa. Through sessions hosted by each partner, interns explored the full project life cycle from architecture, engineering and construction perspectives—learning from industry leaders, exploring different project types and even collaborating in a mock design charrette. Replacing four smaller clinics, the new facility will bring primary care, specialty services, imaging, rehabilitation, mental health, pharmacy, and more together under one roof, making care more convenient for one of the state's fastest-growing veteran populations.
