  • TRUE STORY: A candidate recently spent the first few minutes of an interview talking to Metaview (a bot), thinking it was the interviewer... The New York Times recently reported on a similar phenomenon, what they're calling "bot loops," moments where AI on both sides of an interaction ends up talking to itself while the humans just watch. Résumés written by AI. Screenings run by AI. Somewhere in the middle, nobody's actually talking to anybody. AI is so innovative and helpful but within all of these changes, we are experiencing a loss of human connection. Literally someone was talking to a bot and didn't think it strange! We like to think our average time to fill is 7.9 weeks against a 44+ day industry average. Not because we out automated anyone. Because we didn't skip the human part! We love utilizing toolings and we support our amazing AI clients but we also know that what we do, no tech could emulate. We are the real (human) deal! NYT article may have a paywall but check out the link in the comments anyway!

Planning a company offsite is basically a group project with higher stakes and better snacks. And we're deep into planning for this year! Here's what we've noticed after planning a few of these: the best ones aren't about the fanciest venue or the tightest agenda. They're about the moments that aren't on the agenda at all. The van ride to dinner. The insights while capacity planning. Leadership doing the awkward icebreaker right alongside everyone else! If you're planning one soon, leave room for an inside joke to happen. That's usually where the real culture shows up. What's the best offsite moment you've had? Asking for research purposes 😎

Seel has been named No. 52 out of 5,000 companies on the 2026 Inc. 5000. A few years ago, post-purchase was treated as an afterthought. Merchants patched it together with a returns or shipping protection partner here and there. But we've seen merchants lean into what happens after checkout as a huge growth lever. We grow as our customers grow, and today we're helping merchants look beyond post-purchase and power e-commerce operations as a whole. Seeing thousands of merchants now building their growth engine with Seel, at a moment when e-commerce is evolving faster than ever, is incredibly exciting. Proud of what the team has built to get here, and pumped for what's next.

  • Ok, but can we talk about retention for a sec? Hiring the right person is only half the job. Keeping them is the other half. A few things we tell our clients about retention: - Pay and title get people in the door. Culture and growth keep them there. - Your best people leave for the same reasons every time: no growth path, no recognition, no trust in leadership. - Exit interviews are great. Stay interviews are better. - If you're only checking in during reviews, you might already be behind. People are the biggest differentiator between a startup that scales and one that doesn't. Hire well, then don't let them walk! 👋 Want to learn more about retainment? Check out our services on higherpeople.co

For the past few months, every time I announced a new client, my team would smile, laugh, and gently remind me that we did not need new business. The great news is that once companies start working with us, they often expand into more roles, add new departments, or bring us in to support another hiring push. We’ve related to our clients more than ever lately: hiring can ramp up very quickly, and suddenly you need more support than you planned for. But now, we’re fully staffed, with two more full-time team members starting with us over the next two months. A few major projects are also beginning to slow down, which means HigherPeople is officially open for more business. We specialize in helping early-stage startups hire across nearly every function, from founding AEs, BDRs, and CSMs to engineers, product leaders, recruiters, and VPs / C-Suite. I often describe us as the recruiting team you hire before you’re ready to build a full-time People team, or the Swiss Army knife you bring in when hiring suddenly ramps up, but adding another internal recruiter doesn’t make sense. We offer contingency, retained, and embedded recruiting models depending on how much support you need. To learn more about what it’s like to work with us, check out our case studies page linked in the comments. And shout out to our amazing team who deserves the real shout out for closing SO many roles this year. • You didn't start a company to spend 40% of your week screening resumes. AI was supposed to fix that. For most founders, it just changed what the busywork looks like. We're bringing this topic to SXSW EDU 2027, and need your vote to get it on the stage! The session is: "The Hiring Market Is Broken. AI Is Everywhere. Now What?" Featuring Bonnie Dilber, Rohan Wadhwa, Mallory Mazer, MBA and moderated by Katy Stover Fox 🦊, of course! We're digging into what's actually changing for founders building and scaling teams right now, not the LinkedIn thought leadership version, the real one. Community voting is open now through Aug 23 and it's a real chunk of how sessions get picked. Takes 30 seconds, no account fees, just a free login! Vote here: https://lnkd.in/gzgbeqK9 If you've ever hired someone with AI in the loop (or wished you had), this one's for you!

  • Sometimes the best recruiting strategy is just...creating real relationships! Julia, our Sr. Recruiter, sat down with Madison, VP of Revenue at Throne Labs, for coffee. Just people connecting and talking about what a growing team actually needs! We talk a lot about time-to-fill and pipeline data around here (we love our numbers)! But a great insight into what a company needs rarely comes from a job description. It really comes from honest conversation. In our experience, relationships built in person are relationships that show up in the work! Grateful for clients like Madison who make this feel like a partnership!
