Calling all future designers, engineers, and architects! GMB is excited to host a High School Job Shadow Day for students entering grades 9–12 who are curious about careers in architecture, engineering, and design. Aug. 5, 2026 12:30–4:00 p.m. Grand Rapids & Royal Oak This interactive afternoon is designed to give students a closer look at what it’s like to work on real projects that shape schools and communities. Students will meet our team, take part in hands-on activities, and explore how ideas turn into built environments. Help us inspire the next generation of creators. Join Travis Vruggink (GMB), Abbot Kastanek, MBA, CEFP (Grand Rapids Community College), and Adam Seng (The Christman Company) at the Michigan Association of Physical Plant Administrators (MiAPPA) Summer Conference on June 4 (9:00-9:45 AM) for: Reimagining the GRCC Ford Recreation Center: Designed for Every Student. We look forward to sharing how a 1976 facility was reimagined into a vibrant, inclusive recreation hub focused on wellness, sustainability, and everyday student use. Join Nandita Mishra, ALEP AIA LEED AP (GMB) and Roger Bearup (Grandville Public Schools) at the A4LE-Association for Learning Environments Midwest Great Lakes Region Annual Regional Conference on June 3 (8:45–9:45 AM) for an engaging, interactive session: Beyond Worksheets and Tests: Where Experiences, Environments, and Investment Align for the Next Generation. As AI reshapes learning, this interactive workshop challenges us to rethink everything from how students learn to how spaces and investments support that learning. Expect bold ideas, real examples, and practical strategies to align experience, environment, and long-term vision because the future of education isn’t just academic…it’s deeply human.
