I have been pretty quiet on LinkedIn for the last couple of weeks. It’s been intentional. I love taking time to fully unplug when I’m away with my family and for myself! But while I was offline, some really exciting things were happening behind the scenes at The Nonprofit Hive. Tasha Van Vlack and I have been working on a few big pieces over the last few months, and it feels pretty amazing to see them start coming to life. One of those pieces is our Hive Huddles. We’re still testing, learning, listening, and making adjustments based on how people are actually experiencing them - which is exactly the point. We don’t want to build things in a vacuum. We want to create spaces that feel useful, thoughtful, and worth showing up for. The other big piece is our new ecosystem partnership with Velora. I’m so excited to be working with Kimberly Bottom 🎙️ and the Velora team. This partnership gives us something we haven’t always had a lot of room for since starting the Hive: A little more space to think ahead. A little more bandwidth to dream and scheme. A little more flexibility to ask what’s possible for this community, this sector, and the conversations we want to keep creating. It feels pretty big and exciting! Because the Hive has always been about helping nonprofit folks connect, stay curious, hear different perspectives, and have real conversations about the work we’re all trying to move forward. And support like this helps us keep building that in a more sustainable way. Feeling grateful, excited, and very curious to see what comes next.

This weekend I rode the Cycle to the Summit race @Pikes Peak. Naturally, this is where I’m supposed to write a LinkedIn post about what climbing a mountain taught me about leadership. Grit. Resilience. Staying focused when the road gets steep. Building high-performing teams at altitude. Maybe something about switchbacks and career growth. Unfortunately, none of that is true. You start around 9,300 feet, which is already rude. Then you ride 12-ish miles, climb almost 5,000 feet, and top out at 14,115 feet. At no point was I thinking about work. I was mostly thinking, “Please do not let my heart explode,” “Why is there no oxygen,” and “Is breathing still on the roadmap?” Also, “I cannot believe I paid money to do this.” If you’re curious what it feels like, get on a Peloton, crank the resistance all the way up, pedal as hard as you can for two hours, and have someone slowly remove the air from your house. That gets you close. So no, I do not have a profound business lesson from Pike’s Peak. But I do have a product update. We just launched Velora Grant Management for nonprofits. It’s an AI-native tool to help teams find, apply for, and manage grants without living in spreadsheets, shared drives, and half-finished docs. Grant work is hard enough. The software should not make it worse. If you work with a nonprofit, or know someone who does, I’d love for you to check it out. And if you have feedback, send it my way. My heart rate is back under control, so I can take it. #PikesPeak #Cycling #Nonprofits #GrantManagement #AI #VeloraGrantManagement

When we first started building The Nonprofit Hive, the plan was for members to eventually pay. That was what I understood community to be. You build something valuable. People join. At some point, they pay to keep participating. But the more I sat with it (and because I worked in Social Impact), the more it just didn’t feel right. Because the people who seemed to need this space most were often the people with the least access to paid professional development, sector networks, leadership spaces, or “extra” money to spend on connection. So we decided to keep Hive Chats free. (And I am still so glad we did.) Behind every Hive Chat is matching, emails, reminders, support, tech, troubleshooting, community care, sponsor coordination, follow-up, and all the tiny invisible things that make a space feel safe and worth coming back to. For a long time, weekly sponsorships helped us make that work. And we are deeply grateful for every sponsor who has supported this community. ❤️ But as a two-person team, weekly sponsorship became a lift we couldn't reconcile to all the other work we were bringing on. So in January, Nicole Jamrozinski and I started sketching out the first version of what felt like the dream scenario: What if The Hive could be supported by a small group of deeper ecosystem partners? Not dozens of sponsors. Not a crowded marketplace. Not companies buying access to our members. But 5 values-aligned anchor partners, each bringing a unique background, offering, and perspective to the nonprofit sector. Partners whose support could help us grow, breathe, steward the community well, and keep building on the 15,000+ official connections that have already happened through The Nonprofit Hive. That is why this new partnership with Velora means so dang much to me. Velora is joining The Nonprofit Hive as our first Strategic Ecosystem Partner, helping support our free peer connection work and the next layer of what we are building. They are stepping in with an understanding that nonprofit work is not just about tools or transactions. It is about people. Systems. Relationships. Trust. Capacity. And the behind-the-scenes infrastructure that makes mission work possible. This partnership feels like a real step toward the future we have been trying to build. A Hive that stays free, that is supported sustainably, and that can keep creating meaningful connection without putting the burden back on members. I am really proud of this one. And I am really, really grateful. Welcome to The Hive, Velora. We are so glad to build with you.

We’re excited to share that Velora is joining The Nonprofit Hive as a Strategic Ecosystem Partner. 🙌 (Full announcement here - https://lnkd.in/gvKJizaq) This is not a traditional sponsorship. It is part of a bigger shift we have been dreaming into: building deeper, values-aligned partnerships with organizations that want to support the nonprofit sector in ways that feel useful, thoughtful, and community-first. Velora’s support helps keep The Nonprofit Hive free for nonprofit professionals and strengthens the infrastructure behind our weekly peer connection work. That matters because connection does not happen by accident. It takes care. It takes coordination. It takes trust. And yes, 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀. As The Hive continues to grow, we want to partner with organizations that understand what this community is really about: helping nonprofit people find each other, learn from each other, and feel less alone in the work. Velora is stepping into this partnership with that spirit. We’re grateful, excited, and looking forward to what we’ll build together ♥️ Tasha and Nicole

  • 🥳 We can't WAIT for Monthly Giving Summit 2027! If you want to build, grow or scale your organization's sustainer program, this is for you! 🫵

Speaker applications for Monthly Giving Summit 2027 are 🎉 officially OPEN! 🎉 Mark your calendar: February 25th, virtually - ONE day, three tracks, same energy, wherever you are in the world. ✨ And for the first time ever: an intimate IRL MGS experience in Atlanta. Something you'll want to miss if you're serious about leveling up your monthly giving program. I'm STILL riding the high from this year's MGS, sooo let's talk about that for a second because WoW! We brought together 4,900+ registrants from 80+ countries for two days I genuinely don't think any of us will forget. Dion Dawson had the entire chat on fire 🔥 We looovvved the Watsi donor video. Dave Raley shared a line that's been living in my head ever since - that monthly giving today is where digital fundraising was back in 2006. We are just getting started, y'all! Adriana Carrig reminded us to believe in OURSELVES. 🫶 From Jessica Jackley, if we're brave enough to put it all together, we'll change what's possible! THAT'S the energy MGS brings. That's the community we've built. Speaker spots are now open for MGS 2027, and I want YOUR voice on that stage! Whether you're running a scrappy pre-launch monthly giving program or leading strategy for an org with 100,000+ sustainers, we've built three dedicated tracks this year: Foundation, Growth, and Scaling because your story matters at every stage. If you've got a case study, a hard-won lesson, a framework that changed how your org thinks about recurring donors, or just a wild story, we want to hear it. 📣 Apply to speak at MGS 2027: https://lnkd.in/g3jBGHT8 (Speaker stipend WILL be provided) And a huge thank you to the partners already on board for 2027!! Your support makes this whole thing possible: Fundraise Up, DonorPerfect, Dataro, CharityEngine, LettrLabs, Velora, and Delve Deeper.
