Automate your email with AI — agentic AI that helps you organize, write, search, schedule, and more with just a prompt

About us

Shortwave is the AI agent app for business communications. Most people's experience with AI today involves copy & pasting content back and forth from ChatGPT, or using simple AI features sprinkled into legacy apps. Not only are these terrible user experiences -- they're severely limiting to the the transformative potential of AI. We see an opportunity to build a new kind of communications app -- one designed from the ground up with AI at its core, where our entire UX is optimized for effective human-AI collaboration. Our goal is to unlock 10x (or greater) productivity gains by bringing cutting edge AI together with all of a user's business communications in a single app. With Shortwave, users can give the AI access to all of their data and then take action while still maintaining total control over what the AI does. We're focusing on email initially, as it's (1) ubiquitous (2) an open platform and (3) has a diverse set of valuable business data. In the future, however, we plan to expand beyond email to include all essential business communications tools. Shortwave's founders Andrew Lee and Jonny Dimond believe that a small, focused team of ambitious and talented people can outcompete much larger teams, and that with AI this is now more true than ever. Shortwave is backed by world class investors, including Union Square Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

We just raised $20M to build the cloud agent operating system for work. The round is led by Union Square Ventures and Lightspeed, with participation from Y Combinator, Jeff Dean, Patrick & John Collison, and others. It values the company at $175M. Tasklet grew over 1,200% in Q1 2026 and just crossed $5M ARR. With this new money we can move even faster. For 30 years, doing work on a computer has meant switching between dozens of apps and manually stitching them together. Every app has its own interface to learn, its own data silo, and its own limitations. You adapt to the software. That era has ended. Tasklet is a single AI agent that connects to every tool you use at work, takes real actions across all of them, generates custom UIs on the fly, writes and runs code, and operates 24/7 in the cloud. You don't go to the software anymore — the software comes to you. With this new funding, we're investing in: 🔌 The deepest connectivity layer in AI — any tool, one sentence away 🧠 A smarter agent harness — more models, better context engineering, lower cost 🖥️ Full computer use — code execution and browser control as core primitives 🏢 Teams & orgs — permissions, compliance, and audit logging for enterprise 📱 Mobile — push notifications and agent control from your phone ✨ Simplicity above all — the product gets more capable and feels simpler Today, we're also announcing that Tasklet is out of beta and now generally available. If you've been waiting to try it — now is the time. And we're hiring. 11 open roles in San Francisco across engineering, design, marketing, customer success, and operations. We offer a $20,000 referral bonus for every successful hire. Full post here: https://lnkd.in/gHKNx3yp

Introducing Instant Apps — your Tasklet agent can now build live, interactive apps for you on-demand. Describe what you need & get the perfect custom UI in seconds — connected to your real, live data. You shouldn't have to adapt to software. Software should adapt to you. Instant Apps makes this possible. Describe the interface you need — a dashboard, a tracker, a chart — and your agent builds it in seconds. Even if you only use it once. Unlike code previews in other AI tools, Instant Apps are connected to your actual business data. Your agent already talks to Gmail, Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Sheets, BigQuery, and thousands more. That means: → Live data from your real tools, not sample data → Two-way sync — edit a field, check a box, it writes back to your connected tools → Your agent sees what you do in the app, so you can switch between clicking and chatting seamlessly An Instant App can be a throwaway chart for a standup, or a polished dashboard you pin to your sidebar and use every day. They're saved, editable, and always pull fresh data when you open them. Available now for all Tasklet users.

Tasklet vs. OpenClaw: An Honest Comparison Everyone's talking about @openclaw 🦞 (formerly Clawdbot, briefly Moltbot), and many people have asked me how @TaskletAI compares. Here's my breakdown of both—pros, cons, and who should use what. This comparison is written by Tasklet 🤘🏻. The TL;DR: Both are AI agents that actually DO things, not just chat. But they take opposite approaches: 🦞 OpenClaw = open source, runs locally, maximum flexibility ⚡ Tasklet = managed cloud service, zero setup, security-first 🦞 OPENCLAW PROS: ✓ 100% free & open source (100k+ GitHub stars) ✓ Runs locally—your data never leaves your machine ✓ Extreme flexibility—full system access, can even make phone calls ✓ Self-modifying—writes its own skills, edits its own prompts ✓ Chat from anywhere—WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal, iMessage ✓ Model agnostic—Claude, GPT, local models, etc ✓ Passionate community & incredible "vibe" 🦞 OPENCLAW CONS: ✗ Real security risks—Forbes documented exposed control panels, API leaks ✗ Complex setup—CLI, API keys, OAuth, Cloudflare tunneling, ongoing maintenance ✗ Shadow IT nightmare—Token Security found 22% of enterprise employees running it without IT approval ✗ Credentials stored in plain text files ✗ You're the sysadmin—updates, security patches, network exposure = your problem ⚡ TASKLET PROS: ✓ Zero setup—works immediately, no CLI, no API keys to manage ✓ Security by design—no exposed dashboards, managed infra ✓ 3,000+ integrations + MCP server support + Direct API connections (connect to ANY HTTP API with custom auth). ✓ Powerful triggers—cron schedules, webhooks, RSS feeds, Gmail. Runs 24/7. ✓ Cloud Computer Use—on-demand VMs spin up when needed. No Mac Mini farm required. ✓ Sandboxed code execution—your machine stays safe ✓ Built-in SQL database—no plain-text credential files ✓ iMessage & Telegram built in ⚡ TASKLET CONS: ✗ Not open source ✗ Fewer chat interfaces (no WhatsApp/Discord/Slack yet though it does do iMessage & Telegram) ✗ Subscription cost vs. OpenClaw's free (but BYOK) model ✗ Less "hackable"—can't modify core prompts ✗ Cloud dependent—can't run offline WHO SHOULD USE WHAT: Choose OpenClaw if: → You're technical & want to hack/extend everything → Privacy-maximalist (local-only, fully inspectable) → Want WhatsApp/Discord/Slack chat interfaces → Learning how agentic AI works under the hood Choose Tasklet if: → Enterprise/business use (managed security, no shadow IT) → Non-technical (zero setup, no CLI) → Need custom/internal API connections without code → Want reliable scheduled workflows & triggers → Don't want to maintain dedicated hardware THE BOTTOM LINE: OpenClaw is a thrilling glimpse of what's possible when you remove guardrails. It's "everything Siri was supposed to be." But the security risks are real and documented. Tasklet trades some raw power for peace of mind. You won't edit your own SOUL.md, but you also won't wake up to API keys exposed on the internet.

I use Tasklet every day to get work done and automate tedious tasks. Recently, I got fed up with Facebook Marketplace’s terrible app and spun up a Tasklet shopping agent to find a laptop for me. This is a simple example, but Tasklet is way more than a shopping agent. It’s an AI that can connect to anything, trigger on anything, and automate all kinds of workflows—from personal tasks to real business processes. Honestly, building these agents is kind of addictive 😄 You start seeing automation opportunities everywhere. Watch it work. 👇

  • Big launch today: Shortwave now integrates with Tasklet, our AI automation engine. Your inbox can finally work while you sleep. We built Tasklet to automate recurring work across your tools. But until now, it couldn't touch the things that make Shortwave great—drafts, todos, and comments all lived outside its reach. Today that changes. Here's what's new: 📝 Drafts that appear in Shortwave When Tasklet drafts a reply, it shows up right in Shortwave—not buried in Gmail. Review it, tweak it, send it. ✅ Todo management Turn emails into todos, mark them complete, or organize your task list automatically. Wake up to a prioritized list instead of a wall of unread messages. 💬 Comments on threads Tasklet can add context, flag issues, or drop in relevant info as comments—so your team sees what they need without you lifting a finger. Some things you can build: → "When I get an email from a VIP, add a todo and draft a reply" → "When I add the 'Needs Response' label, draft a reply for me" → "Every morning, create todos for anything that needs action" Just describe it. Tasklet does the rest. And remember—Tasklet connects to 3,000+ apps. Combine your inbox with Slack, Notion, Drive, your CRM. Build workflows across your whole stack. Shortwave: your AI assistant when you're working. Tasklet: your AI automation running 24/7. Now they work together. We just shipped Tasklet's biggest update since launch. Our v2 agent architecture is a complete rebuild of how our AI agents think, plan, and execute work. What's new: → Multiple triggers per agent (no more duplicating agents for related workflows) → Built-in task planning for complex, multi-step projects → Subagents that spin up on the fly to tackle bigger jobs → Smarter context management that handles way more data Plus a cleaner UI, more integrations, and dozens of fixes & improvements under the hood. If you tried Tasklet before and hit limitations—now's the time for a second look. Full post: https://lnkd.in/gUeeatP6

  • We just shipped Claude Opus 4.5 in Shortwave. It's Anthropic's most intelligent model ever—and their internal testers described it as the AI that "just gets it." What does that mean for email? → Better at understanding nuance and context → Smarter drafts that actually sound like you → Handles complex, multi-step requests with ease → More effective use of AI integrations The best part: Opus 4.5 is 3x more quota efficient than the previous Opus model. So Max plan users can now use significantly more AI on Expert mode without burning through quota. More power AND way more usage. Available now for Shortwave Max users: https://app.shortwave.com
