The displaced people start their own authorities, capacity climbs, and rates get pushed down again. The cycle keeps repeating. “What happens to the people that are displaced? So if we do get to a million and a half, two million per head count, there's another 25 people that have been removed from that brokerage, or even a shipping department, or even a trucking company. Where do they go? You know, most human beings, like to do something, have some kind of purpose. They will start new brokerages, or they will start new businesses. If they have a hobby making sunglasses, they will start a sunglass company. Carriers want to know the load will really be there at 8am Tuesday and that they will actually get paid. Shippers want to know the carrier will show up and move freight without claims. Once trust exists on both sides, everybody flocks. “If I go to pick up a load at a particular location, an address, at 8 a.m. on a Tuesday morning, will the load really be there? Will I really get paid once the load has been delivered? And once they realize that that side of the marketplace is also being vetted, you'll end up with a marketplace that everybody will flock to. Once you've got the trust on both sides of the market, everybody jumps all in, and they tell their friends, iIt spreads quickly, ‘Hey, this freight over here, and the freight is real freight, and it pays a fair price, and you'll get paid once you move it’. ‘Oh, hey, there's carriers over here, and they'll pick up the freight when they say they will, and when they move it.’ There's a lot less claims because they're good, honorable carriers and drivers that are moving that freight. Will there  still be some issues and claims? Yes, there will. 🔓 Uber Freight Hacked, Feds Called In. A hacker group calling itself Helix claims it stole nearly 1 million files from Uber Freight, including mailboxes, OneDrive accounts, and accounts-receivable records, posting the claim to its leak site Aug. 6. Uber Freight spokesperson Sam Hallock said the incident was "identified, contained and remediated" and that the company "promptly engaged federal law enforcement," adding there was "no impact to Uber Freight's business operations, which continue in the normal course without disruption." Google tracks Helix as part of a broader hacking cluster, UNC6671, that has collected at least $10.6 million in extortion payouts since January. ⚖️ States Sue Trump Administration over CDL Data. 22 state attorneys general, plus Pennsylvania's governor, sued the Trump administration on Thursday to stop FMCSA and DHS from seizing Social Security numbers, birthdates, and license records for 17 million commercial drivers. FMCSA first demanded the records July 23; DHS followed with a subpoena Aug. 11. Absent a court order, the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) plans to hand over the data by Aug. 17 to preserve $10 million in federal funding. "The Trump administration is attempting to seize confidential state records without any lawful justification," New York Attorney General Letitia James said.
