We're excited to announce the launch of the beta version of the BMC Health AI Chatbot on WhatsApp, powered by Fractal's Vaidya.ai.   This marks the first deployment under the MoU between Fractal and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai's civic body, to bring AI-powered healthcare innovation to one of India's largest public healthcare networks.   Through the WhatsApp chatbot, citizens can access trusted health information, receive simplified lab report explanations, and find nearby BMC healthcare facilities with ease.   This chatbot is part of a broader initiative that also includes: 🔸 AI-guided pre-consultation support for doctors 🔸 A Public Health Intelligence Dashboard that helps administrators identify emerging health trends using anonymized insights   BMC's healthcare network handles more than 16.8 million OPD visits and generates over 3 million laboratory reports annually, underscoring the immense potential for responsible AI to improve healthcare access. Everyone wants to build agents. Few stop to ask if they actually need one.     A request comes in? Build an agent.  An email needs to be understood and routed? Agent.  A process requires summarization, validation, and an update to a downstream system? Agent.     We've become so fascinated with AI agents that we're starting to use them everywhere.  But not every workflow needs autonomy.     If a process has a clearly defined path, known rules, and predictable outcomes, introducing an agent can create unnecessary complexity through additional monitoring, governance, debugging, and potential failure points.     In many enterprise use cases, the winning approach is surprisingly simple:  🔸 Use agents where interpretation and judgment are needed.  🔸 Keep orchestration deterministic where execution is already understood.
