About us
Zipline was founded to create the first logistics system that serves all humans equally. Our aim is to solve the world’s most urgent and complex access challenges. Leveraging expertise in robotics and autonomy, Zipline designs, manufactures and operates the world’s largest automated delivery system. Zipline serves tens of millions of people around the world and is making good on the promise of building an equitable and more resilient global supply chain. From powering Rwanda’s national blood delivery network and Ghana’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution, to providing on-demand home delivery for Walmart and enabling leading healthcare providers to bring care into the home in the United States, Zipline is transforming the way goods move. By transitioning to clean, electric, instant logistics, we can decarbonize delivery, decrease road congestion, and reduce fossil fuel consumption and air pollution, while providing equitable access for billions of people. The technology is complex but the idea is simple: a teleportation service that delivers what you need, when you need it. Zipline is inspiring people, governments, and businesses to imagine what is possible when goods can move as seamlessly as information. The future of food delivery is taking off 🚁 We're thrilled to partner with Zipline, the world's largest autonomous delivery service, to bring on-demand drone delivery to select Wonder locations in Texas beginning January 2027. Customers will be able to order directly through the Wonder app and receive their meals via drone, unlocking a faster, more innovative way to enjoy great food. Over time, we expect the majority of our Texas locations will offer drone delivery, beginning in Dallas. This marks a major step forward in our mission to make great food more accessible, and we're proud to help lead the next wave of last-mile innovation to life. 🔙 Throwback to Kigali, and to a decision that once sounded like pure science fiction. During the Invest in Rwanda session at the Africa CEO Forum 2026, Caitlin Burton, CEO of Zipline Africa, looked back on the moment her company brought autonomous drone delivery to life in a place where, by her own account, flying drones was illegal everywhere on Earth. No country had said yes before, largely because the idea felt too hard to picture actually working out in the world. Rwanda chose to imagine it anyway, and that single choice quietly reset what was thought possible for logistics across the continent. 🛬 Her account is, above all, a story about frameworks rather than gadgets. Getting a single aircraft over the horizon required airspace regulators to write first-of-their-kind rules, health administrators to fold an untested system into the everyday delivery of care, and planners to model a return on investment for something that was, at the time, entirely hypothetical. It took a whole-of-government mandate to make it happen, and the first time Zipline ever watched its own technology disappear over the horizon, Rwandan officials were standing right beside them, seeing it for the very first time too. As she put it, "The government of Rwanda, we like to say, they lead with yes." 🌍 What started as a regulatory sandbox in Kigali has since travelled to five further markets across Africa, alongside Japan and the United States, carrying a quietly powerful lesson for the continent. The infrastructure that now moves life-saving supplies was not imported ready-made; it was co-created on Rwandan terms, through shared rules and shared ambition. That is the throwback worth holding onto as ACF 2026 reflects on Scale or Fail, because the Zipline story shows that shared frameworks, the often invisible architecture of regulation and public coordination, are frequently what decide whether a bold idea scales or stalls. #ACF2026

You can see Zipline’s impact from space! When we launched in northern Ghana, the goal was to get medicines to health facilities when they need them. But new independent research looking at nighttime radiance -- the spread and density of light visible from space at night -- indicates sustained economic growth where we operate compared to 82 similar locations. Households within 2 km of the hub are gaining $850 to $1,200 in additional income each year. We're still learning how reliable logistics create better conditions for local economies to grow thanks to the curiosity of our government and research partners. Each piece of research helps us focus our efforts to have the greatest possible impact. Read the research here: https://lnkd.in/ebF3Wpai

While Trump's "America First" bilateral health deals are proving controversial in several African countries, #Rwanda's "regulatory sandbox" and State Department-backed AI drone pioneer Zipline are showing what can be accomplished when innovative agendas align. I caught up with the company's Africa CEO Caitlin Burton on the margins of the Africa CEO Forum #ACF2026 in #Kigali to talk about the next steps for automated medical supply chains in #Africa. https://lnkd.in/eZZTkvEy
