This #FluorFlashbackFriday, we’re looking at our work in commercial nuclear power. Fluor entered the commercial nuclear market in 1970, providing construction, maintenance, and modification services for the Joseph M. Farley 1,720-megawatt nuclear power generating station in Dothan, Alabama. Units 1 and 2 achieved construction completion in 1977 and 1981, respectively. Today, we continue to support both existing nuclear power plants and next-generation technologies. Copper is playing a critical role in the energy transition, with demand expected to grow significantly in the decades ahead. Fluor delivered the Quellaveco open pit copper mine near Moquegua, Peru, one of the world's largest and most technically advanced mines. Expected to produce approximately 300,000 tonnes of copper annually during its first ten years of operation, Quellaveco is helping meet the growing demand for a metal that is essential to electrification, renewable power, and battery storage. As we continue our focus on Mining & Metals, learn more about this project: https://lnkd.in/eSryw_aR #BuildingABetterWorld #FluorFocus #Mining #Metals #Copper
