You're not short on data. You're short on time to turn it into an answer. More than 2.2 terawatts of new generation and storage projects are sitting in US interconnection queues right now — nearly double the grid's entire installed capacity (RMI, 2026). Data centers are on pace to consume between 9 and 17 percent of US electricity by 2030 (EPRI). Neither one slows down while a model gets built. Most modeling workflows were designed for a study cycle measured in months. The market you're planning for moves in weeks. By the time a scenario is ready, the assumptions that shaped it may already be out of date. That's not a failure of the people doing the analysis. It's a structural mismatch between the pace of the grid and the pace of the tools built to model it. We produced a new e-book with Utility Dive on exactly this gap — why traditional modeling is falling behind, what's replacing it and what a category built to close that gap actually looks like: Energy Decision Intelligence. If you're the one explaining a planning or investment decision to a board, a regulator or an investor, this is worth 15 minutes of your time. Data center siting has become one of the most consequential decisions in your energy plan — location can determine whether you can secure power on the timeline and at the cost your project needs. A hyperscale data center campus can ultimately require hundreds of megawatts, with some proposed campuses exceeding 500 MW. Developers are asking you to evaluate these projects on increasingly compressed schedules, often across multiple candidate locations and phased energization plans. Before you can approve service, you need to determine whether the grid can reliably support the proposed load, what transmission and substation upgrades it requires, how quickly the load can ramp and what it means for your future resource and transmission needs. That's why early scenario analysis matters. Instead of evaluating a single predetermined location, you can compare candidate sites and energization schedules on: → Available grid capacity and transmission constraints → Congestion and expected energy costs → Required generation and transmission investments → Load flexibility, storage and onsite-generation options → Resource adequacy, emissions and policy exposure Energy Decision Intelligence helps you evaluate these planning questions before capital commitments are locked in. It complements — not replaces — the detailed engineering and interconnection studies performed by utilities, transmission providers and system operators. In a recent Energy Exemplar and Utility Dive Studio survey of 150 data center professionals worldwide, power availability was the most-cited challenge in securing power for a project, ahead of regulatory approval, cost uncertainty and land availability. Where is data center growth creating the greatest planning challenge for your organization? Three utilities. Three different problems. PLEXOS® is helping to solve them all. We recently sat down with PLEXOS® and PLEXOS® Intelligence users from CenterPoint Energy, American Electric Power, and Exelon to talk how PLEXOS® has impacted their work. Here’s what they told us. 🔹 CenterPoint Energy cut gas supply simulation times from four or five hours down to about two. That's real time back for the scenario analysis that actually drives hedge decisions. 🔹American Electric Power needed speed without sacrificing trust. PLEXOS® Intelligence sped up post-processing and diagnostics while keeping the validation a regulated utility can't compromise on. In their words: "It does support the model, not replace the model." 🔹Exelon brought market outlook modeling for PJM in-house. No more waiting on outside consultants. Just faster, sharper answers about where markets are headed. Different teams. Different goals. Same result: better modeling, better decisions. Your organization doesn't need a modeling team to make high-stakes energy decisions with confidence. That's the gap Energy Decision Intelligence is built to close. Maybe you run a trading desk and need physics-based price forecasts to trade on, without the specialized modeling talent in-house to build them. Maybe you're a data center developer who needs a clear view of power availability and cost before committing to a site, without a resource planning group to turn to. Or maybe you're a renewable developer, a small utility, a corporate energy buyer, or an independent power producer — carrying real exposure to market volatility without ever building a team to model it. Historically, that meant a binary choice: build a modeling capability you can't justify, or make consequential decisions without the analysis you actually need. Here's what that tradeoff costs in practice. In Energy Exemplar's recent survey of 150 data center professionals, power availability was the single most-cited challenge in securing power for a project — yet only 22% of respondents said they assess power availability and cost before acquiring land. PLEXOS® Pulse shows what removing that tradeoff looks like: a guided, AI-powered experience built on daily-updated PLEXOS modeling, so you can ask what's driving the day-ahead price without a modeling team standing between your question and the answer. You shouldn't have to accept blind exposure to a crowded interconnection queue, or discover a power availability problem after the land is already bought. Chile's grid is changing fast, and the data behind it needs to keep pace. The 2026 PLEXOS® Chile Nodal Dataset, version 26.7, is now available for PLEXOS® giving analysts a detailed, chronological view of the Chilean National Electric System from 2026 through 2036. ➡️➡️ What's New The dataset reflects the latest planning assumptions from Chile's Comisión Nacional de Energía, so forecasts and scenarios are grounded in current official data, not last year's projections. A few highlights: ⚡ Generation, transmission, and demand data updated end to end ⚡ 34 hydrological scenarios covering a wide range of wet and dry conditions ⚡ Demand forecasts allocated across the nodal network ⚡ Battery storage modeled with native PLEXOS® Battery objects ➡️➡️ Why it matters For analysts working on Chilean market studies, this means less time spent reconciling assumptions and more time spent analyzing outcomes. The dataset has been validated using the Chilean National Energy Commission (CNE) Precio Nudo de Corto Plazo – 1° Semestre 2026 as the reference planning study, so the groundwork is done before you even open the model. Ready to see what's changed in your system? Existing users can download the updated dataset now through the Marketplace: https://bit.ly/4z0GE2u New to the Chile Nodal Dataset? Every energy organization has at least one decision sitting below the threshold for a full analysis right now. Not the flagship investment — that one gets the rigorous study. The smaller one. The scenario nobody's gotten to yet because the study queue is already full. What's the one your team hasn't been able to get to? Tell us in the comments — we read every one. #EnergyDecisionIntelligence #EnergyExemplar #EnergyLeadership #PLEXOS

Join us at Xplore DACH Trading for a focused half-day event dedicated to the realities of modern European power trading. We have limited places for this FREE event, and our London event was oversubscribed within 2 weeks, so please, if you are interested, register early to avoid disappointment. 📝 Register now as spaces are running out: https://bit.ly/4fJsZE5 European power trading has changed. Gas volatility, geopolitics, renewable generation, and changing market fundamentals mean trading the curve now requires far more than a single price forecast. Successful trading desks need to understand what is driving prices and how those drivers evolve from day-ahead through to the forward curve. 📍 Hyatt Regency Düsseldorf 📅 3 September 2026 We'll explore: ⚡ How trading desks build a fundamental view of the German and CWE power markets ⚡ The role of gas, LNG, geopolitics, weather, and the marginal unit in shaping prices across the curve ⚡ How to move beyond a single forecast by using scenario analysis to quantify market uncertainty ⚡ Turning a market view into trading, dispatch, and hedging decisions that maximise portfolio value ⚡ Practical applications of AI to accelerate trading workflows and improve decision-making ⚡ Real-world examples of how trading organisations are using PLEXOS® to model uncertainty at scale #XploreDACHTrading #EnergyTrading #PowerMarkets #EnergyTransition
