Ebenezer proudly broke ground this week on The Sycamore at The Preserve, a new 32-apartment memory care community coming to Maplewood, Minnesota. The ceremony brought together Ebenezer leadership, project partners and City of Maplewood officials, including Mayor Abrams, to celebrate the start of a community built to support individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia — and the families who love them. "Buildings create spaces, but people create community," said Brett K. Anderson, President and CEO of Ebenezer, during his remarks at the groundbreaking. We were proud to be part of the ceremonial signing of Minnesota's new "Grandparents' Happy Hour" law at Amira Choice Champlin. This bipartisan legislation supports more opportunities for connection, celebration, and meaningful moments for older adults in senior living communities
Today was a pretty great day. We got to celebrate the passage and ceremonial signing of Minnesota’s “Grandparents’ Happy Hour” law, which allows senior living communities to serve alcoholic beverages at resident-focused community events. Yes, it’s about happy hour. But it’s also about something much bigger. What struck me most was how many people came together to make it happen: LeadingAge Minnesota, our Ebenezer marketing, sales, communications, and operations teams, Fairview comms, legislators, senior living leaders, residents and advocates. There was a lot of collaboration, persistence and more than a few emails and Teams messages involved. It feels good to be part of a community that understands people don’t stop wanting choice, connection, celebration and a little fun just because they’ve reached a certain age. I hope we keep moving toward a world where every generation sees the value in the others—honoring those who came before us, supporting the people beside us and making things better for those coming next. Today, that looked like legislation, teamwork and a celebratory toast. Not a bad combo.
