This week, we’re celebrating a big step forward for inclusive housing in Douglas County! Tall Tales Ranch officially broke ground on its new community in City of Lone Tree, CO, an exciting milestone that will bring more inclusive housing and new opportunities for connection, independence and belonging to our community. This moment has been more than a decade in the making. Since Tall Tales Ranch was established in 2014, a growing network of families, advocates, donors, local governments and community partners has worked together to move this vision forward, including more than $2 million from Douglas County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funds and the Douglas County Developmental Disabilities Mill Levy.

Have you noticed artwork dotting the landscape as you’ve ventured out in Douglas County? The celebrated Douglas County Art Encounters outdoor public art program has recently installed dozens of new pieces in public places throughout Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, Parker and Roxborough. The 2026-2027 sculptures are the works of local and national artists, showcased in visible areas to both encourage public interest in art, allow artists to showcase their work and give everyone a sense of community pride. School is back in session in Douglas County this week, and that means thousands of kids will be walking, riding bikes or scooters or waiting for buses in your neighborhood each day. It takes all of us to work together to keep them safe on their way. Douglas County traffic engineers, the Douglas County School District, the Sheriff’s Office, and regional partners work together to ensure that students have safe routes to school. We can all do our part by following a few safety guidelines. Thank you, Douglas County, for an amazing 2026 Douglas County Fair & Rodeo! 🎡🤠 This year, we welcomed thousands of you to the Fairgrounds to enjoy the carnival, food trucks, 4-H exhibits, sold-out ProRodeo and more, including: • Back-to-back concerts with an outstanding Trace Adkins performance with more than 3,500 attendees, and an energetic Saturday night performance by AWOLNATION. • The Unbridled Rodeo featuring more than 500 attendees and participants of all ages and abilities. • A wonderful Colorado Farm-to-Table brunch celebrating our agricultural community. • Four exciting Pro Rodeo performances, including Roughstock Rodeo, Patriot Night, and Cowboys for Cops, which welcomed more than 9,000 fans throughout the weekend. To everyone who attended, volunteered, competed, worked behind the scenes, or cheered from the stands, thank you. Plans are already underway for 2027!
