👨💻 Remote work hollowed out downtowns, but the fix may be simple: let more people live there. The new State of Downtown Index finds pre-automobile #cities like New York and Boston at the top, while auto-oriented standouts like Fort Worth shine on retail but suffer from almost no #housing nearby. ✈️ It may be a while before #airtaxis are real, but the Pentagon pays now: Joby Aviation acquires defense tech firm Resonant Sciences for $500M, the latest #eVTOL bet on military revenue while the long road to passenger flight continues. 🛵 Yulu raised $93M to quadruple its electric moped fleet in India, where two-wheelers remain the dominant form of individual transport and the real engine of the #EV shift. 💵 Uber sold its stake in Serve Robotics and won't renew their partnership next year, marking another #AV breakup after Waymo. 👉 Subscribe to our 2x weekly mobility digest for the full news: https://lnkd.in/gHGGACfh

“Why should a one-pound burrito be in a 10,000-pound car?...” Eric Garcetti, former mayor of Los Angeles, on #LA2028: #MeasureM set the direction nearly ten years ago, and that work is still rolling out across the city. LAX is now being modernized, electric delivery is expanding, eVTOLs are entering the skies, and new tunneling projects are moving forward. Every project stayed in its own lane. Nobody planned how it all fits together. 2028 can be a moment of imagination, not because we need more technology, but because we finally need to connect neighborhoods and #urbanmobility systems, with real public commitment behind it. The Olympics aren’t just about putting on a show — they’re a test of whether a city can improve life for the people who live inside it. ▶️ Watch the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gRZQS7Y8

🤖 A new #robotaxi bill aims to establish a minimum #safety standard for how AV fleets interact with emergency services. 71% of Americans say they were uncomfortable with the idea of riding in AVs. ⚡ Two-thirds of California voters now oppose the gas #car phase-out by 2035, despite facing the highest gas prices in the country. 🤝 Baidu partners with Lyft to test AVs in London, joining Waymo, Uber, and Wayve in what could become an international #AV competition petri dish. 🏘️ The Colombian capital's Habitat Department is now evaluating every project through the lens of #housing, #transit, and public spaces. 👉 Subscribe to our 2x weekly mobility digest for the full story: https://lnkd.in/gzAZEtaF

Last week our CEO John Rossant sat down with the former mayor of LA, Eric Garcetti, to discuss how LA has changed in the last 10 years. Back in 2016, 71% of #LA voters approved #MeasureM, securing funding for a 40-year project to expand #publictransit, rail lines, and to improve roads and freeways. In 2017, we launched CoMotion in Downtown LA, bringing public and private sector leaders together to tackle the complex and emerging issues facing #mobility. By 2018, Waymo secured California’s first driverless testing permit, and in 2019, #micromobility boomed with Lime riders logging 3 million trips, revealing a huge appetite for flexible #transport in a city built for #cars. In 2024, Los Angeles Metro reached a significant milestone, averaging over 1 million daily weekday riders. Today: #Autonomous vehicles are a commercial reality, #EV charging is mainstream, #AI is booming, and public transit is using data-driven innovation to better serve the people who rely on it. ▶️ Watch the full interview: https://lnkd.in/eUHQsTCg

Marc Amblard has long been one of the sharpest observers anywhere of the enormous changes transforming the way people and goods move around our cities and urban region. And for the last decade, Marc's Mobility Revolution monthly newsletter has been required reading for those in the ecosystem of new mobility. I am honored that Marc asked me to pen the preface to his new book "Mobility Revolution - How AI, EV's, Robotaxis and New Modes Radically Transform the Ecosystem". The excellent book is out in September, published by Routledge, but you can pre-order now with a 25% discount, using the code MOB26...Well done, Marc!!
My Book “Mobility Revolution” is Now Available I have the great pleasure to introduce my book, “Mobility Revolution — How AI, EVs, Robotaxis, and New Modes Radically Transform the Ecosystem”. It builds on 35+ years of experience in the mobility space including the past decade in Silicon Valley as a senior advisor to the global industry. Writing this book was the natural next step after publishing over 100 articles via my monthly newsletter Mobility Revolution (about 5,000 subscribers). 💰 HOW TO ORDER You can pre-order my book “Mobility Revolution” from the publisher, Routledge starting July 21st. The first copies will ship August 11th. Use the code MOB26 for 25% off. The book will be soon available on other platforms as well. Order here: https://lnkd.in/g-b2Gb2U 📔 ABSRACT Mobility Revolution captures the sweeping transformation redefining how people and goods move. Drawing on decades of experience across Paris, Detroit, and Silicon Valley, Marc Amblard unpacks the forces driving this historic shift, namely the push for clean mobility, volatile regulations, ambitious startups, geopolitics, and the global power shift toward China. He dissects the central role played by technology as electrification, autonomous driving, artificial intelligence, the software-defined vehicle, and new modes reshape the entire ecosystem. Blending insightful technology perspectives with rigorous strategic analyses, this book explores the new tech, products and services, innovative business models and collaborations, and complex supply chains that will determine the next era in automotive and mobility. Organized around key domains, namely clean mobility, autonomy, digital transformation, and changing mobility paradigms, the book offers professionals and policymakers a panoramic yet practical view of where mobility and the automotive industry are headed. Mobility Revolution is essential reading for anyone seeking to understand and anticipate the future of transportation. 🙏THANK YOU! 👉 John Rossant, Founder and CEO of CoMotion for your foreword 👉 Corinne Vigreux, Bernard DELMAS, Dr. Luc JULIA, Michael Huelsewies, Reilly Brennan, Jeffrey Chou, Mehdi Ferhan, Michel F., Michael Granoff, Ali Kassaï Koupaï, Paul Lienert, Alexandre Marian and Mehul Udani for your reviews 👉 Guy Loft and Zoe Everitt-Spence at my publisher, Routledge, for believing in me and my project #mobility #FutureOfMobility #CleanMobility #UrbanMobility #AutoTech #innovation #automotive #electrification #EVbatteries #BatterySupplyChain #AutonomousDriving #robotaxi #shuttles #ADAS #AutonomousTrucking #NewMobilityMode #eVTOL #BusinessModel

🚌 UK's new PM caps #bus fares at £2 starting Jan 2027 with a projected cost of £500M. The real question: Can you actually have good #transit for free? ⚖️ A federal judge strikes down NYC's ride-hail labor protection #law prohibiting Uber and Lyft from deactivating drivers without "just cause", finding it unconstitutional. 🤖 Zoox's #autonomous vehicle got confused by smoke from a nearby fire. Turns out emergency situations are still hard to navigate for #robotaxis. 📖 Marc Amblard's new book “Mobility Revolution” breaks down AI, EVs, robotaxis, and the geopolitical forces reshaping transport.
