All of us at Cofertility are excitedly following along AOC's egg freezing journey. Check out what Lauren Makler, our CEO and Co-founder, has to say about its impact (and our recent mention in Gothamist). #EggFreezing #ReproductiveRights #FamilyPlanning #IVF
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been sharing her egg freezing journey publicly, and I couldn't be more excited about it. Here's where I see the impact: 1. It makes talking about egg freezing normal. So many fertility conversations are still treated as taboo. But when someone with a public platform documents her journey in real time, it opens the door for everyone else. It tells every woman quietly Googling "how does egg freezing work" at 11pm that she's not alone. 2. It gets women informed earlier. Fertility isn't just a medical topic, it's a knowledge gap. Most women don't learn how their own fertility works, or what options even exist, until they're already struggling to conceive. The earlier you know, the more choices you have, and the better those choices fit your actual timeline and goals. 3. It puts the cost conversation on the table. AOC said that her insurance won't cover it. That's the real barrier for most women, and it's exactly why we need more coverage for elective egg freezing. It's also why I was so glad to see Cofertility mentioned in the Gothamist piece on the topic. We help women freeze their eggs for free when they donate eggs to intended parents who need the help of an egg donor to have a baby. Thank you, Congresswoman, for using your voice on this. I really wish it didn't still count as a brave act, but here we are. Here's to more openness, more education, and more women in the driver's seat of their own reproductive future. 💪 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gBN9hXPv #EggFreezing #ReproductiveRights #FertilityAwareness #FertilityEducation #IVF
