Illinois has established a new framework for environmental justice considerations in air permitting. Signed into law on August 7, Senate Bill 3772 establishes a statewide methodology for identifying Areas of Environmental Justice Concern and outlines additional factors the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency may consider when reviewing certain air construction permit applications.
