Driving 160-foot pipe piles in single pieces across Louisiana marshland takes some serious planning – especially when the work spans 6.5 miles and includes soft ground, limited access and active pipelines that can’t be taken out of service. That was the challenge facing Cajun Industries, LLC on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ La Reusitte to Myrtle Grove Levee Project in Plaquemines Parish, La. Cajun completed the pile driving scope for three major concrete structures, installing more than 63,000 square feet of permanent and temporary sheet piling and 639 18-inch pipe piles ranging from 100 to 160 feet in length. To efficiently install eight different pile lengths across four battered configurations, Cajun worked with its equipment suppliers to develop a versatile lead configuration that could handle every pile length without repeated equipment changes. The marsh environment added significant logistical challenges, with crews coordinating equipment and material movements across the alignment while accounting for soft ground and limited access. At one structure, three active pipelines crossed directly through the permanent sheet pile wall alignment, requiring custom temporary retention structures and carefully sequenced installation to keep the pipelines operational. Driving the pipe piles in single-piece lengths also reduced field splices, welding, inspections and material handling. The 160-foot piles set a company record for Cajun as the longest single-piece piles it had driven at the time. Congratulations to Cajun Industries, LLC on winning a 2026 PDCA Project of the Year Award in the Land: Over $10 Million category! #PDCAPOY #PDCADriven #piledriving

There were no roads to the job site for Cajun Industries, LLC’s work on the CSX 2 Mile Gulf Coast Hardening Project. Every piece of equipment, permanent material and crew member had to travel by water to reach the remote site in Louisiana’s Lake St. Catherine Wetlands. Using barges, amphibious marsh buggies and floating work platforms, Cajun constructed a first-of-its-kind coastal protection system designed to protect a critical rail corridor between New Orleans and Slidell, La., from erosion and hurricane-driven storm surge. The completed two-mile wall incorporates 1,204 driven vertical piles, 901 horizontal walers and 317 horizontal sheet piles, with repurposed rail incorporated into the structural system. All construction had to be performed from the marsh side while trains continued operating only yards away. Cajun coordinated its work around train movements, pausing operations as trains passed while maintaining progress along the two-mile alignment. The project also called for creative pile driving solutions. Cajun modified the jaws of its MOVAX Oy vibratory hammer so one attachment could install both HP piles and repurposed rail piles, and developed a custom six-pile floating template to maintain alignment and positioning. Custom-fabricated rail clips allowed crews to install the horizontal walers without field bolting or welding. Cajun completed the project on schedule, under budget and without a recordable safety incident. Congratulations to Cajun Industries, LLC on winning a 2026 PDCA Project of the Year Award in the Marine: Less than $10 Million category! 🏆 #PDCAPOY #PDCADriven #marineconstruction #piledriving

  • 👏 Cajun Industries successfully completed a chemical plant expansion project spanning two separate facilities, self-performing work across multiple disciplines, including equipment installation, structural steel erection, piping, and concrete foundations. Across both facilities, Cajun completed nearly 1,500 welds, installed approximately 6,500 linear feet of pipe, erected 450 pipe supports, performed roughly 480 bolt-ups, placed nearly 180 cubic yards of concrete, and erected almost 10 tons of structural steel. Cajun executed this work while maintaining an exemplary safety record, resulting in zero OSHA recordables. As stated in our Vision Statement, Cajun prides itself on putting our employee’s health and safety above all else, exceeding the expectations of our clients, and striving for operational excellence. This project was a great example of Cajun fulfilling its vision statement. Congratulations to all who contributed to this safe and successful project! #CajunUSA
