  • Behind every scaled patient is a dedicated expert who understands their unique needs. This World Lizard Day, we are spotlighting Sarah Gronsky, VMD, DABVP (Exotic Companion Mammel Practice), who brings her passion for exotics to our hospital in Clearwater, FL. Dr. Gronsky was drawn to exotics during veterinary school, where she was intrigued by a specialty filled with new discoveries, complex medicine, and a need for clinicians willing to think outside the box. Treating lizards holds a special place in her practice because of the strong connections pet owners share with their scaled companions. Dr. Gronsky shared what she loves most about her work: "I love seeing the bonds they share with their owners! I enjoy being a trusted source lizard owners feel like they can turn to for help with their scaled family members. They are just as loved as their furry dog and cat counterparts." Every species of lizard requires tailored care, unique temperature zones, and specialized medicine. • When veterinary teams unite to raise the bar for emergency care, entire communities benefit. Recently, our Tukwila, WA, hospital hosted a United Care RECOVER Rescuer Certification Event, bringing together veterinary professionals from across Mars Veterinary Health—including Associates from BluePearl, Banfield Pet Hospital and VCA Animal Hospitals. Led by certified RECOVER instructor Tammy McCarty, CVT, LVT, VTS (ECC), senior patient care training coordinator at BluePearl, our attendees completed hands-on training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS), sharpening their lifesaving CPR skills and giving them the confidence to respond effectively during a cardiopulmonary emergency. The session concluded with a collaborative networking mixer to build connections and share best practices across the industry. Tammy shared what this cross-brand collaboration means for the profession: "United Care is more than a phrase – it’s a commitment to working together and sharing knowledge so we can provide the best possible care for every patient. By teaching evidence-based CPR and emergency response skills across Mars Veterinary Health, we create a ripple effect. The people who attend these trainings take that knowledge back to their teams, helping raise the standard of care across practices and communities." A huge thank you to Tammy McCarty, our Tukwila hospital team, and all the dedicated Associates from BluePearl, VCA, and Banfield who joined us to advance patient care together! #BluePearlVet #ProudlyMars #UnitedInCare #ElevatingVetMed #RECOVERCPR

  • At BluePearl, supporting our teams starts by equipping our leaders with the tools they need to succeed. Designed for new hospital, medical, field, and support center leaders, BluePearl 101 (BP101) offers an immersive orientation experience within their first 90 days. Across three half-day sessions, participants explore our organizational priorities, connect with senior leadership, and build lasting relationships with peers across the country. Our Midtown NYC hospital practice manager, Toni Pinkney, shared, "The training has been engaging, practical, and full of real-world examples that I can immediately apply in my hospital. It’s reassuring to know that as a new leader, you’re not expected to figure everything out alone—you have a network of people committed to helping you succeed. • Orange cat energy...but make it lifesaving. Just in time for International Cat Day (Aug. 8)! Today, we're celebrating some very special orange feline blood donor heroes who are helping save lives. 🐱 🐱 Jack and Jam When these two handsome orange cats came in for their donor screening at our Tampa, FL, hospital, their family was simply looking to give back. The comprehensive screening process delivered incredible outcomes for both: 🐾 Early detection - During his screening, Jam was found to have a heart murmur, and the program benefits provided great options for his owner to get it checked out. Jam has since been cleared to become a blood donor hero! 💙 A rare lifesaver - Jack also passed his screening, was identified as having Type B blood - a much more rare feline blood type - and has already completed his very first donation! 🐈 Pennywise Last week, Pennywise stopped by our Cedar Rapids, IA, hospital to donate blood right as our inventory ran low. Talk about perfect timing! Shortly after processing his donation, a feline patient arrived through our ER in need of an immediate blood transfusion. Thanks to Pennywise's contribution, our team was able to safely perform the transfusion in the nick of time. Could your cat be our next hero? • When Lola suddenly fell ill, her family was left searching for answers - and facing the terrifying possibility of a terminal cancer diagnosis. Seeking hope and specialized care, Lola’s family came to our Framingham, MA, hospital to see our internal medicine specialist, Bari Spielman, DVM, DACVIM. Upon careful review and advanced diagnostic testing, Dr. Spielman uncovered something unexpected: rather than cancer, Lola had a treatable, manageable liver condition.
