Astronics has unveiled the Ballard NG3 AI Accelerator, a mission-ready edge AI solution for rugged aerospace and defense platforms. Combining the Hailo-8R AI processor with the proven NG3 avionics computing platform, the NG3 AI Accelerator delivers up to 13 TOPS of AI inference at approximately 3 TOPS per watt in a compact, low-SWaP form factor. It is qualified for harsh aerospace and defense environments, including airborne, ground, and unmanned systems. With integrated AI processing and native avionics interfaces in a single unit, the NG3 AI Accelerator connects directly to aircraft databuses and sensors, reducing system complexity, wiring, and latency while supporting MOSA-aligned, COTS-ready deployment.
