Some nurses make an impact that extends far beyond patient care. Paige, a nurse at Rogue Regional Medical Center, recently earned a DAISY Award. Her colleagues along with CEO Jon Cooper, CNO Janet Davis and Director Rob Koning all joined in to celebrate her! Paige has been a mentor, teacher and trusted colleague to new graduates, new hires and nursing students, always making others feel comfortable asking questions and helping them grow with confidence. While caring for a critically ill patient who was unable to communicate and had no known family or contacts, Paige thought of something no one else had: What if the patient had pets at home with no one caring for them? She took action, advocating for a wellness check at the patient’s home to make sure any animals were safe. It was a simple question rooted in extraordinary compassion—and a powerful example of what it means to care for the whole person. Congratulations, Paige, on this well-deserved DAISY Award!

Today, the Hospital Association of Oregon released its report, A Fraying Safety Net: Oregon Hospitals in Crisis – and the warning couldn’t be clearer. Oregon hospitals are being pushed to the brink by chronic underfunding, rising costs, mounting regulatory burden and growing financial pressures. What’s the result? We’re proud to share that Three Rivers Medical Center is among a select group of hospitals nationwide with zero central line infections, according to CMS. Only six hospitals in Oregon earned this distinction — including our neighbors at Providence Medford, who also achieved outstanding results (way to go Prov!). Thank you to our dedicated caregivers whose vigilance and expertise keep our patients safe every day. Asante is partnering with Western University of Health Sciences’ College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific Northwest to bring third and fourth year medical students to our region starting July 2026.
