  • Through the Jemeiwaa Ka'l wind project, AES Colombia is partnering with indigenous Wayuu communities to help create lasting opportunities and strengthen local development. Since 2019, AES Colombia's Water Route initiative has delivered more than 11 million liters of clean water annually to 8,000-plus people in La Guajira. Through the Academy initiative, community members gain the training and tools to lead and manage their own development projects, helping build a stronger future for their communities. AES Colombia also supports community-based organizations that provide maintenance services to local solar parks while expanding access to electricity. Before the end of this year, more than 3,000 people will benefit from household electrification initiatives, creating new opportunities for families across the region. These efforts reflect our commitment to support and empower the communities where we live and work, and to creating shared value wherever we operate.

  • Every project we deliver, every partnership we form, and every community we support is guided by our purpose to accelerate the future of energy. 🐢 Meet Speedy, a protected desert tortoise found at AES’ Bellefield Solar + Storage site in Kern County, California. After Speedy showed signs of illness, our team worked with wildlife agencies and reptile specialists to get him tested. He was then treated at an off-site clinic and safely quarantined on-site in a custom enclosure. The goal was to support Speedy’s recovery and also to help prevent potential disease spread among vulnerable desert tortoise populations. Nearly one year later, Speedy is fully recovered. With agency approval, he was relocated to a prepared habitat with an artificial burrow to support his return to the wild. It’s a small story with a bigger message: responsible energy development requires care for the ecosystems and species around our projects. Thank you to our Bellefield team, project biologist Dr. Youssef Atallah, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for helping Speedy get back on track.

  • Today marks an important milestone in El Salvador’s energy transition with the inauguration of Santa Ana IV, AES El Salvador’s largest solar facility in operation. With 55 MW of installed capacity, Santa Ana IV strengthens energy security, expands renewable generation, and supports a more resilient and diversified energy matrix for El Salvador. But this project is also part of a much larger story. More than a decade ago, AES El Salvador began investing in innovative energy solutions that could help accelerate the country’s transition to cleaner sources of power. From the Nejapa biogas facility to the nation's first distributed solar plant, the AES Moncagua complex, and energy storage projects serving local communities, each step has helped build the foundation for a more sustainable energy future. Santa Ana IV represents the next chapter in that journey. Today, AES generates approximately 25% of El Salvador's solar energy, with 18 solar facilities across the country, helping avoid hundreds of thousands of tons of CO₂ emissions each year. Projects like this demonstrate what is possible when long-term investment, innovation, and strong partnerships come together around a shared vision. We are greatfull for the support of our partners and the effort of our AES El Salvador team, whose dedication made this achievement possible. Together, we are helping build a more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy future for the people of El Salvador. #AESElSalvador #EnergíaSolar #Sostenibilidad #ElSalvador #FutureOfEnergy #AES #AESEnciendeLaLuzDeTuVida

  • Creating a sustainable future starts right in the communities where we live and work. Last week, AES people in our Arlington, VA office came together with Arlington County Government at Arlington's Glencarlyn Park and Long Branch Nature Center to learn more about local wildlife and ecosystems. The day was a reminder that environmental stewardship begins with connection. When we take time to understand the natural spaces around us, we are better prepared to protect them, care for them and help them thrive. A big thank you to our team members and local partner for showing how environmental education and small, hands-on actions can support healthier communities and a sustainable future. #WorldEnvironmentDay #Sustainability #Biodiversity

  • Across our communities, AES is taking an intentional approach to managing the vegetation near our power lines. It starts with a simple idea: keeping our grid safe while planting the right trees in the right places. At AES Ohio and AES Indiana, proactive tree-pruning and vegetation management play a critical role in: 🌱 Preventing tree-related outages before they happen ⚡ Protecting vital infrastructure and improving community safety 🌳 Partnering with local organizations to ensure urban canopies thrive safely

  • Mangroves play a critical role in biodiversity and coastal protection. AES Panamá supports mangrove restoration efforts on Isla Galeta, Colón, contributing to reforestation that helps protect and strengthen these coastal ecosystems. Home to 12 mangrove species, Panama represents one of the most diverse ecosystems in the Americas. It is a critical habitat for fish, crabs and other marine species that coastal communities depend on. Protecting it supports long-term environmental resilience and benefits wildlife. This work reflects our broader focus on supporting biodiversity and helping protect the natural environments surrounding local communities.
