  • Acentech's Fun Committee designed a 9-hole mini-golf course celebrating the 2026 World Cup! After a pizza lunch, the Cambridge staff tested their skills and cheered each other on. (The ghosts of our founders tried to scoop the trophy, but we caught that in time.) The true winner was Ethan Brush! ♥

  • As museums welcome more visitors, the sounds they create have become a larger part of the experience. Exhibitions are evolving, and interactive, multi-sensory artworks increasingly invite conversation, movement, and reflective group activities. Milena Jonas Bem teaches us in this lab article about the ways acoustics affect your museum experience. She emphasizes how working with the sounds already present in a gallery can be beneficial as opposed to eliminating them. Jonas Bem shares her two studies to support this research and highlights a past Acentech project with a web3DL module! Link to the article in the comments!

  • Acentech is proud to see the expertise of two of our consultants featured in the June 2026 issue of Noise/News International, published by the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE). Principal Ethan Brush explores the huge range of vibration levels relevant to buildings in "Good Vibration Measurements, Criteria, and Standards," providing practical guidance on vibration measurement techniques, performance criteria, and a push for industry standards to support consistent data. Associate Principal Brandon Cudequest examines the latest thinking on vibration isolation in "Vibration Data for Mechanical Equipment: Shake Up the Paradigm," including important updates to the ASHRAE HVAC Applications Handbook that help engineers apply more effective vibration isolation strategies. Together, these articles reflect Acentech's commitment to advancing the practice of noise and vibration control through technical leadership, research, and knowledge sharing. We encourage colleagues across the AEC industry to explore this issue of Noise/News International. Ethan’s article appears on page 9, and Brandon’s article on page 18. Earlier this month, Erland joined Tufts University, Provident Resources Group Inc., Capstone Development Partners, LLC, CSL Consulting LLC, and Elkus Manfredi Architects to celebrate the topping off of Pachyderm Place, marking a major milestone for the two new 10-story residence halls currently under construction on campus. The ceremony recognized the incredible collaboration among the project team, trade partners, and consultants who are helping bring this transformative project to life. Team members gathered to witness the placement of the final beam, a longstanding construction tradition that symbolizes the hard work and dedication invested throughout the project. We’re proud to be part of this exciting addition to the Tufts campus and look forward to continuing progress toward completion.

We are saddened by the loss of our colleague and friend, Eric Ungar. Eric was a true legend in the field of acoustics and vibration, but those who knew him will remember him beyond his in-depth technical expertise. He was kind, generous, humorous, and always willing to share his knowledge with others. He had a remarkable ability to explain complex concepts in ways that everyone could understand. Eric was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose strength and character inspired so many. We are grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside him and for the lasting impact he had on our profession, our company, and our lives. Rest in peace, Eric. You will be deeply missed.
