In theory, I know that the work we do at Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives supports chambers and that chambers are doing amazing work in their communities. But it’s not often that I get a (literal) front row seat to see how impactful that work is. Yesterday, I was extremely honored to attend the ninth annual Moxie Awards, a program of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce that celebrates women who are driving innovation, leadership, and community impact across Gwinnett and metro Atlanta. There was a delicious brunch and an amazing keynote speech by Stephanie Stuckey, but the real highlight was the awards. I don’t live in the Gwinnett area, so I didn’t know any of the finalists, but it was impossible to not get swept up anyway. Women were recognized for paying it forward, being trailblazers, and championing their communities. Organizations were celebrated for being powerful places for women to work. Women-owned and women-led businesses were recognized for their excellence. Over 500 attendees cheered and praised the impact the finalists have made in their communities. It was inspiring and humbling. I left feeling encouraged to do whatever I can in my role at ACCE to keep supporting chambers across the country who are doing work like this in their communities. I was incredibly proud to be Team Gwinnett for the day. 💜 Major kudos to Maggie Toburen, April Perry, Alicia Krogh, and the rest of the team for a seamless and beautiful event. They made what was undoubtedly a ton of work look effortless. After the event, I got to finally see the Gwinnett Chamber building in person. I first heard about it in 2024 from Patricia Sledge and have wanted to see it ever since. Lisa A. Sherman gave me a lovely tour of the “largest regional chamber building in the nation.” (Did I get that right, Nick??) Everything about the building design and how they use their space is so thoughtful and intentional, much like the rest of their work. It’s really no wonder that they were named as a Chamber of the Year in 2023 by ACCE. A huge thanks to Nicholas "Nick" F. Masino and all of the Gwinnett Chamber staff for being so welcoming and hospitable and including me in the day. It was so special. I am forever Team Gwinnett now!

Attending the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Annual Conference in New Orleans this week was an incredible experience. From inspiring keynote sessions to engaging conversations with chamber professionals from across the country, I’m heading home with fresh ideas, new perspectives and plenty of inspiration to bring back to our chamber. One message that resonated throughout the week was the importance of resilience and innovation. As our communities continue to evolve, so must we. A huge thank you to everyone (new connections and familiar faces alike) who shared ideas, experiences and encouragement throughout the week. This is where I got the most nuggets of information and encouragement. As a bonus, I got to experience New Orleans for the first time. The music, food, and culture made this conference even more memorable. Now it's time to head home—grateful, inspired, and very ready to get home to my boys.
