There's a version of this job where you write the recommendation, hand it to the client, and never find out whether it worked. Nobody here signed up for that one. We've been building software for federal agencies for 13 years. Army, Air Force, Navy, FDIC, USCIS, FAA. Our engineers sit with the people who'll actually use the thing, and they ask why a process exists before they touch it, because half the time there's a reason nobody wrote down. Then they stay for the unglamorous stretch. The ATO. The legacy system with no documentation and one guy left who understands it.
