There's a version of this job where you write the recommendation, hand it to the client, and never find out whether it worked. Nobody here signed up for that one. We've been building software for federal agencies for 13 years. Army, Air Force, Navy, FDIC, USCIS, FAA. Our engineers sit with the people who'll actually use the thing, and they ask why a process exists before they touch it, because half the time there's a reason nobody wrote down. Then they stay for the unglamorous stretch. The ATO. The legacy system with no documentation and one guy left who understands it. The week it runs clean in staging and falls over the second it hits real users on a real network. That's where most government AI and modernization work dies, and it never shows up in anybody's press release. So that's what we hire for. Less about the credentials than whether you want to know whose Tuesday gets easier when the thing finally ships, and whether you'll still be around when it does.

All smiles before the 540 company-wide "Ask me Anything" session yesterday while we have the entire company in town for #540week. Blair Todd Jeremy Altman Christopher Bock Jeff Affuso Doug Stephon. Some said my answers were a bit... ummmm... verbose 🤷♂️ What can I do when I get on a roll with a great question... Annndddd they gave me a microphone. It's dicey... but it was fun.

Most government software gets built by people who never meet the person using it. That's the gap Christopher Bock, our CEO, was talking about when someone asked what makes 540 different. His answer was the people. Our engineers work shoulder to shoulder with the government teams they support, so they learn the mission you're actually running, not the one in a slide deck. Missions rarely fail for lack of ideas. They fail because the idea never makes it to production, and getting it there takes people who stay until the thing works. That's what we hire for. If that's how you want to work, we have openings. Link in the comments.

Big news: 540’s AI & API Control Plane (AACP) is now Awardable on the Department of War’s Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace. AACP provides a secure, governed layer for connecting enterprise data, applications, APIs, and AI models and has achieved ATOs across IL2, IL4, and IL6 environments. Platform-agnostic and deployable across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, AACP enables: • Secure API exposure and system integration • Centralized AI governance, routing, logging, and access control • Zero Trust identity and auditability for users and autonomous agents • Rapid delivery of scalable data and AI services This is proven capability, not a pilot. We have implemented these approaches supporting DoW CDAO, the Air Force, USPS, and FAA. Awardable status means AACP has already completed the competitive assessment process, giving government buyers a faster pathway to move from mission need to deployment. Agencies may pursue FAR-based contracts or Other Transactions without additional competition or a separate Justification & Approval or Sole-Source Justification. Finding us is simple. If you have a .gov or .mil email address, create a free account at the Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace and search "540" or the full listing title: Streamlining Business Processes: AI & API Control Plane (AACP). Link in the first comment. Or reach out directly and we'll walk you through it.

Migrating a 50-year-old system is the kind of job that quietly goes sideways on most teams. Half a century of data, a COBOL backbone, and a userbase that depends on it every single day. The FMS-ACES team (Forge Group, LLC, Horizon Industries, Limited and 540) did it over one weekend. 1,766 cases. 1.9 million requisitions. Live on June 15th for the first 159 users at U.S. Army Security Assistance Command, on the Army's cloud, holding steady from the first login. 540 built the cARMY deployment that made it hold. Standing something this size up in that environment and having it stable on day one is the hard part, and it's the part we were brought on to get right. This is what FMS modernization actually looks like when it ships: $200 billion in foreign military sales and 140-plus partner nations now running on a platform that didn't exist a year ago. Forge Group, LLC ran point as prime. Horizon Industries, Limited was on the team. Good companies to do hard work with.

There's a pattern we see constantly in federal technology. A new tool hits the market. Leadership gets excited. Someone asks where they can use it. And suddenly every problem looks like a nail for that particular hammer. It doesn't work. It never has. Christopher Bock has a simple rule for how 540 approaches technology: start with the mission requirement. Understand the actual problem. Then figure out what solves it. That's not a revolutionary idea. It's just one that gets ignored a lot right now. Watch the full clip. #FederalTech #GovCon #TechStrategy #MissionFirst

Being here for this year’s Databricks Data + AI Summit was an opportunity to spend time with 540 data and forward deployed engineers doing the hard work daily, hear the numerous announcements firsthand, and learn from industry leaders on how to get Context, Choice, Cost, and Control in the hands of mission owners. Conferences provide the opportunity to get outside of the daily routine and think strategically, strengthen existing relationships, and create some new ones. I’m hoping to maximize this last day in San Francisco at the conference and looking forward to being back home next week to apply. Hit me up if you’re here at want to connect. SECWAR Pete Hegseth delivered an on point speech tonight at the National Artificial Intelligence Association’s AI for the Warfighter | Defense Innovation Dinner. * Use AI to maintain American edge and for all legal purposes * Cut the red tape to move fast * Make it easier to work with all AI innovators (not only the ones that have been there the longest) He talked about each of his pace-setting projects including Enterprise Agents that 540 has been #gettingshitdone this year. The time flew by… I was pumped to attend… and the conversations around the room and my dinner table gave me comfort that we’d meet all of these goals together. Thank you Caleb Max and NAIA for putting on a great event!
