Myron Moose, by Bob Foster
'Myron Moose'. German-language version.

Bob Foster grew up in the suburbs of New York and moved to California in 1961 to attend Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles. In 1970, he created Myron Moose Funnies and from 1973 until 1975 wrote and illustrated 'The History of Moosekind' for Marvel's CRAZY magazine. Throughout the 1970s, he was an assistant animator and animation layout artist for such studios as Filmation, Hanna-Barbera, DePatie-Freleng, and Marvel.

In the 1980s , Foster was a staff writer/artist for Disney Publishing where, among other duties, he wrote the 'Donald Duck' comic strip (art by Frank Smith, Daan Jippes, Jim Franzen, Jorgen Klubien, Tony Strobl, etc) as well as scripts for the foreign market comic book stories. From 1980 until 1985, he was simultaneously the animation layout supervisor for XAM! Productions in Salt Lake City, Utah.

When Disney took the license from Gladstone and published the comics themselves, Foster held  the position of Managing Editor for the entire line of titles. He was also editor of Walt Disney's Comics and Stories, Uncle Scrooge Adventures, Donald Duck Adventures and DuckTales from 1990 until 1992, for which he also did rough sketches for all the cover gags.

In March 1992, Foster moved to Denmark to be a script editor for Egmont. In 1993, he organized a comic book storytelling course in Dublin, with the participation of Will Eisner, Ulrich Schroeder, Pat McGreal and Dave Rawson. While in Copenhagen, he initiated legendary Disney comic artist Carl Barks' first and only tour to Europe. Foster created the initial itinerary for it and in May 1994 Barks visited no less than 11 countries: Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Poland, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. A trip to Switzerland was also planned, but later canceled. For Barks, it was the first time in his life that he ever left the United States. He always wanted to travel, but lacked the necessary money.  Much to the 93-year old artist's surprise, his visit received a lot of local press attention.

One month prior, in April 1994, Foster returned to Los Angeles, working as a storyboard artist for Warner Bros., Nickelodeon, Fox, Wild Brain, Scholastic, Dreamworks, Laika, Sony and Disney (current). He has worked with Disney Television Animation as a storyboard artist on 'Mickey Mouse Clubhouse', 'My Friends Tigger and Pooh' and 'Jake and the Never Land Pirates'.

Foster was the treasurer of CAPS, the Comic Art Professional Society, and is President of The Animation Guild, which represents 3,000 artists and writers in the animation business primarily in the greater Los Angeles, area from December 2010 until December 2013. He died in 2024, at age 81.
