XYZ Films confirmed SXSW standout Hallow Road will have a US theatrical release. The psychological thriller starring Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike and Emmy winner Matthew Rhys opened in the UK on May 16, 2025 and will arrive in US theaters this fall.

The thriller, which currently sits at 92% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, also stars Megan McDonnell (Normal People). BAFTA winner Babak Anvari (Under the Shadow) directed and William Gillies wrote the screenplay.

“In the film, two parents enter a race against time when they receive a distressing late-night phone call from their daughter,” reads XYZ Films’ synopsis. “As they head deeper into the night, disturbing revelations threaten to tear the family apart as they realize they might not be the only ones driving down Hallow Road.”

Despite a big-name cast, Guy Ritchie’s latest action-adventure, Fountain of Youth, is a surprisingly shallow experience. The film tries for a fun, witty vibe but misses the mark entirely, coming off as a watered-down version of far better treasure-hunt movies. At its best, it’s a sort of National Treasure-lite, but those brief moments don’t come close to justifying the two-hour runtime, which feels like a real grind.

Director Guy Ritchie has been relatively consistent on the critical front in recent years, with several of his movies scoring with critics. It's a nice run that most directors wouldn't mind having, but it looks like it has hit a bit of a snag with the release of his recent film, Fountain of Youth. Despite a solid cast and what sounds like a pretty entertaining premise, the film is far from the adventure movie treasure it could have been, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

Fountain of Youth now carries a 37% "rotten" score on the review aggregator site with a total of 38 reviews counted so far. That comes in lower than some of his recent releases, such as The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (68%), Guy Ritchie's The Covenant (83%), Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre (51%), Wrath of Man (68%) and The Gentlemen (75%). You have to go back to 2017's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (31&%) to find a lower score.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, Apple TV’s Fountain of Youth stars the enigmatic Natalie Portman, John Krasinski, Eiza Gonzalez, and Domhnall Gleeson in the lead roles. Though the overall aesthetic and visual elements of the film looked good, I was a bit let down by the storyline and the un-inventiveness of the title. The writers tried to build a story using the same old archetypes that, I believe, just made the entire film seem a bit mundane.
