Guy Ritchie’s New Adventure-Hunting Mystery Is a Global Streaming Hit Despite Abysmal Rotten Tomatoes Scores
Image
Guy Ritchie will always be known for his work on classic crime thrillers like Sherlock Holmes and The Gentlemen, but earlier this year, he released a new film that’s climbing streaming charts. Ritchie stepped behind the camera to direct Fountain of Youth, the globetrotting mystery adventure film following two siblings and their journey to reconnect as they search for the Fountain of Youth. Despite releasing nearly three weeks ago, receiving poor scores of 36% from critics and 40% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, Fountain of Youth has found continued streaming success. The film is streaming on Apple TV+, and it’s the #1 most popular movie on the platform in 98 countries as of yesterday. Despite its star-studded cast, Fountain of Youth did not premiere in theaters and was released straight to streaming.

Some Apple movies in the past, like Napoleon and Argylle, have been released in theaters before they premiered on the streamer,...

Melissa Barrera is Fan-Favorite Casting Choice for James Gunn's Dcu Wonder Woman
Image
James Gunn’s revelation that a Wonder Woman movie is now in development, alongside the already-announced Paradise Lost TV series centered on the Amazonian, has sent fans into overdrive with their casting suggestions – with one name coming out as a strong leader even though everyone is convinced the controversy surrounding the star would make it an impossible casting choice.

When James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the helm of DC Studios, there were immediate questions over who would be taking over some of the iconic superhero roles that were previously played by Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot, among others. Initially, it seemed that Gadot could possibly be appearing as Wonder Woman in the Dcu, with the actress suggesting this to be so. Over time, though, it has become apparent that Gunn will mostly be cleaning the slate of the old Dceu and that means a new Wonder Woman will rise.

‘Fountain of Youth’ Review: A Muddled Quest
Image
John Krasinski, Domhnall Gleeson and Natalie Portman in ‘Fountain of Youth’ (Photo Credit: Apple TV+)

Despite a big-name cast, Guy Ritchie’s latest action-adventure, Fountain of Youth, is a surprisingly shallow experience. The film tries for a fun, witty vibe but misses the mark entirely, coming off as a watered-down version of far better treasure-hunt movies. At its best, it’s a sort of National Treasure-lite, but those brief moments don’t come close to justifying the two-hour runtime, which feels like a real grind.

Four-time Emmy nominee John Krasinski’s normally able to lift average material, but not in this case. Oscar winner Natalie Portman also doesn’t inject anything special into the globe-trotting adventure. The fight scenes feel generic, and the stunts give off a serious “been there, done that” vibe. And Fountain of Youth‘s fantastical setups, while expected to be outlandish in this genre, are just...

Image
Mark Hamill won’t be returning as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: New Jedi Order, even though the story will continue with Rey, played by Daisy Ridley. In a recent interview with ComicBook while promoting his new film The Life of Chuck, Hamill talked about why he feels his time in the Star Wars galaxy is over.

When asked if he would appear as a Force ghost in the new movie, Hamill said he’s thankful for everything Star Wars gave him, but he believes it’s time for the story to focus on the new generation.

“I am so grateful to George [Lucas] for letting me be a part of that back in the day, the humble days when George called Star Wars ‘the most expensive low-budget movie ever made,’” he said. “We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that.

Eiza González Almost Auditioned Her Way Into Star Wars Without Even Knowing It: ““I Didn’t Know What I Was Doing”
Image
Before she became known for her roles in 3 Body Problem and Alita: Battle Angel, Eiza González had a surprising brush with one of the biggest movie franchises of all time, Star Wars. But back then, she had no idea what she was walking into.

Eiza recently shared the story on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s podcast Dinner’s On Me. She explained that years ago, before she had a team in the U.S., no agent, no manager, no publicist, she went to an audition for a film she knew nothing about.

She read for the role several times, maybe three or four, and then got asked to sign something called a non-disclosure agreement, which she had never even heard of at the time.

Eiza Gonzalez Reflects on Media Calling Her 'Fat' & 'Ugly' as a Teen Actress: 'That Stays With You Forever'
Image
Eiza Gonzalez is vulnerably sharing how facing public scrutiny about her physical appearance as a teenager has impacted her self esteem.

Back in 2007, Eiza starred as Dolores in the Mexican telenovela Lola: Érase Una Vez, taking solace in acting after the sudden death of her father.

However, after the first episode of the show aired, she was faced with an onslaught of negative media attention dissecting her face and body.

“[Viewers] were waiting for the reveal of this character, and I came on stage, and I sang a song, whatever. The next morning, I’m watching the version of Today in Mexico, and they’re gonna talk about it. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, it’s just happening, this is crazy.’ I’m doing what I wanna do. And the presenters came on, and they’re 40 and 50-year-olds, and they’re like, ‘Ugh, she’s so ugly. She’s so fat.

She's been to outer space in 3 Body Problem and the future in Alita: Battle Angel, but Eiza Gonzálezalmost ended up in a galaxy far, far away. However, she didn't realize what she was auditioning for until she met J.J. Abramsin person. The actor talked about her experience auditioning for a mystery movie that turned out to be Star Wars: The Force Awakens with Jesse Tyler Ferguson on his Dinner's On Me podcast.

At the time unknown outside of Mexico and not having an agent, publicist, or manager, González went into the audition not knowing what the film was. She read for the part three or four times before signing a non-disclosure agreement (which she had never heard of) and meeting with the director. ‘The Last of Us’ Goes Out on Top, Holds Off Netflix Hit ‘Sirens’ at No. 1 on Weekly Streaming Chart
Image
Week after week, we’ve covered how HBO / Max’s “The Last of Us” has fought off big-budget rivals to stay firmly in first throughout its season. Time will tell if it follows “The White Lotus” with another number one ranking in the week after its finale.

However, two other platforms have found lasting series success in this window, Hulu with the sixth season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” and Apple TV+ with “Your Friends & Neighbors.” Both series have volleyed against Netflix entrants week after week, but have demonstrated their lasting fandom as they keep their hold in the Top 10. The penultimate episode of “The Handmaid’s Tale” is seventh this week and celebrates its seventh consecutive week in the Top 10.

While “Handmaids” built a dedicated fanbase over the last five seasons, Apple TV+’s “Your Friends & Neighbors,” led by Jon Hamm, has impressively captured and sustained audiences with this debut season.

The Fountain Of Youth – Review
Image

The Fountain Of Youth is director Guy Ritchie’s, latest, an action/adventure tale starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman, as a brother-sister duo hunting for the mythical Fountain of Youth. The Fountain Of Youth is a globetrotting adventure yarn blends Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Name Of The Rose, and National Treasure with an art heist thriller. Yet, there is little thrilling here, as the characters, plot and tropes are all too familiar, while the talented stars are miscast in their roles.

Guy Ritchie is a director who burst on the scene with a pair of clever twisty crime thrillers, Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, but mostly failed to live up to that early promise. With The Fountain Of Youth, all that remains...

Guy Ritchie’s 'National Treasure' Dupe Is the Most Popular Movie on Rotten Tomatoes Despite Abysmal Score
Image
Apple played a major gamble over the Memorial Day holiday frame, debuting the action-adventure film Fountain of Youth on its Apple TV+ streaming service while two massive new movies were released in theaters. Disney's Lilo & Stitch remake and Paramount's Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning grossed a combined total of over half-a-billion dollars at the global box office this past weekend, while Fountain of Youth dominated the streaming charts. In fact, it was the most popular title on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes on May 26.

According to FlixPatrol, Fountain of Youth scored exactly 100 points, outperforming titles such as Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, Warfare, Nonnas, and Black Bag. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the movie has also been topping the Apple TV+ viewership charts since its debut last week; it claimed the number one position from Scott Derrickson's romantic thriller The Gorge, which had been ruling over the Apple...

With Fountain Of Youth, Apple TV+ Has Finally Made Its First Netflix Movie (And That's Not A Good Thing)
Image
At first glance, "Fountain of Youth," Guy Ritchie's new action-adventure film made for Apple TV+, looks like a fun, family-friendly romp about an intrepid explorer and thief named Luke Purdue (John Krasinski), who recruits his sister Charlotte (Natalie Portman) to join him on a quest to find the mythical "fountain of youth." Joined by Charlotte's son Thomas (Benjamin Chivers), a billionaire seeking the fountain to cure his terminal cancer named Owen Carter (Domhnall Gleeson), Luke's old accomplices Deb McCall and Patrick Murphy (Carmen Egojo and Laz Alonso), and a competing explorer/thief named Esme (Eiza González) who keeps tracking Luke, they all set out to find the fountain that's been mentioned across continents and cultures for centuries.

This sounds at least a little promising. The end result is anything but. "Fountain of Youth" is a slog that stretches for 2 hours and 5 interminable minutes, stranding Krasinski, Portman, Gleeson, and all...

‘Fountain of Youth’ Ending Explained: What Happened to Owen Carver in the End?
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Spoilers ahead for Fountain of Youth

Guy Ritchie’s latest treasure hunt film, Fountain of Youth, surprisingly hit the streamer instead of theaters. While the film’s amazing set pieces make the streaming release feel like a bad decision, John Krasinski isn’t exactly the crowd puller, especially in this role. He plays Luke Purdue alongside Natalie Portman, who plays his estranged sister Charlotte Purdue.

Luke accepts a gig from billionaire Owen Carver, played by Domhnall Gleeson, which leads him to engage in some very illegal heists. Charlotte gets pulled into this pursuit for the Fountain of Youth along with her son Thomas. They are on the run from Interpol officer Jamal Abbas and Eiza González’s Esme, who is a protector of ancient artefacts.

'It Was Brutal': Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul Names Which Scene He Was Most Terrified to Film
Image
Actor Aaron Paul went through the wringer with his role as Jesse Pinkman in the hit TV show Breaking Bad. There was one scene, however, that he was dreading more than any other on the series.

Paul reflected on Breaking Bad during a recent appearance on First We Feast's Hot Ones. He was asked if there was any scenes as an actor that he dreaded, and Paul was quick to think of Jesse's first big loss in Breaking Bad. In the AMC drama's second season, Jesse's girlfriend, Jane (Krysten Ritter), chokes to death on her own vomit while passed out on drugs. A heartbroken Jesse finds her the next morning, and this marks one of the darkest moments for the character in the entire show. Paul shared how he felt very nervous leading up to the filming of the scene.

Who Is Phoebe Tonkin’s Husband Bernard Lagrange?
Image
Phoebe Tonkin, the fierce and fiery Hayley Marshall from The Originals, just stepped into a whole new role—this time not as a hybrid mom tangled in supernatural drama, but as a glowing bride. Yep, the 35-year-old Aussie actress, who first won hearts in The Vampire Diaries, is officially off the market. While fans were still busy daydreaming about her on-screen love stories, Tonkin was busy building a real-life romance behind the scenes. And now, she’s married. The lucky guy? Bernard Lagrange. Not exactly a household name, but once you peek into who he is, the match starts making perfect sense.

Let’s be real—when Tonkin posted those engagement pics in October 2024, fans lost it. She didn’t make a big announcement. Instead, she casually dropped a few cozy shots with a blink-and-you-will-miss-it diamond ring flashing on her finger. Subtle, stylish, very Tonkin. But now that the secret...

Guy Ritchie’s ‘Fountain Of Youth’ Lacks The Spark
Eiza González
Eiza González, John Krasinski and Natalie Portman in “Fountain of Youth” Photo Credit: Apple TV+ Streaming on Apple TV+, Guy Ritchie’s most recent movie, Fountain of Youth, tries to catch the adventurous attitude of traditional treasure hunts, but ultimately falls short of its grand aspirations. Starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman as separated siblings Luke and Charlotte Purdue, the movie starts a world-spanning journey sponsored by a terminally ill philanthropist (Domhnall Gleeson) to discover the legendary Fountain of Youth. Though the film is visually beautiful and has a talented cast, it struggles to consistently deliver on its promise of witty banter and thrilling action. The concept is perfect for an Indiana Jones or National Treasure-style adventure. Charismatic art thief Luke ropes his art curator sister Charlotte into the search for clues hidden in Renaissance art, leading them from ancient Egypt to dangerous confrontations. Some of the action scenes clearly...

Travel Icon Rick Steves Gets Ambushed by the Cast of Apple TV+’s ‘Fountain of Youth’ in Hilarious New Video
Image
If there's one person who can wax poetic about the legendary Fountain of Youth, it's travel enthusiast Rick Steves. In a new Apple TV+ video, the iconic host is just about ready to take viewers on yet another journey when he is interrupted by some pretty famous faces. The hilarious video is just a little stunt to tease the streamer's new movie, which debuts on the catalog today.

In the video, Rick Steves is preparing to introduce one of his documentaries when none other than John Krasinski (The Office) quite literally jumps out of nowhere. The host is surprised at the unexpected companion, but decides to take it in stride and continue with his introduction. However, he is forced to stop almost immediately when Natalie Portman (Thor: Love & Thunder) also walks in and notes that the subject Rick is talking about would be great for a movie. Finally, Krasinski...

Apple TV+'s Fountain Of Youth Has The Exact Same Problem As The Uncharted Movie
Image
This post contains major spoilers for Apple TV+'s "Fountain of Youth."

There's a good reason why we are so enamored by stories about lost treasure. The concept of a group of seekers hopping from one clue to another to uncover a relic lost to time appeals to human curiosity. There's also a sense of adventure that mimics the workings of an epic quest, in which the pop-culturification of history and myth helps inject fun into the premise. Everything from "Indiana Jones" to "National Treasure" follows this time-tested format, where the search for a priceless artifact invites a globe-trotting adventure and a tussle over final ownership.

Sometimes, these movies succeed in commanding our attention even when they're sub-par or lacking in substance — the Robert Langdon trilogy being a good example of such formulaic, watered-down mysteries that still have some pleasures to offer. However, this is not the case with Guy Ritchie's "Fountain of Youth,...

Fountain of Youth Movie Review – Apple’s Indiana Jones Feels Like a 2004 Movie Wearing 2025 Makeup
Image
Remember when every movie tried to be Indiana Jones with a new hat and a slightly different map? Well, Apple TV+ is spinning that wheel again with Fountain of Youth, and this time they’ve roped in Guy Ritchie to direct. Is John Krasinski the new Indie? Nope. But this knock-off movie can be quite fun. The plot is in the title. Literally. Krasinski stars as Luke Purdue — treasure hunter, thief, scooter enthusiast. He’s hired by a rich, dying businessman (Domhnall Gleeson) to find the actual Fountain of Youth. See, it’s in the title. Purdue is also being chased by an inspector (Arian Moayed) and an assassin/thief hybrid (Eiza González), because the film needs a beautiful but dangerous love interest for the lead character. Soon, he teams up with his estranged sister (Natalie Portman) to solve puzzles, dodge bullets, and run across booby-trapped temples. Image Credit: AppleTV+ Yes,...

Guy Ritchie's 'Fountain of Youth' Lands Disappointing Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
Director Guy Ritchie has been relatively consistent on the critical front in recent years, with several of his movies scoring with critics. It's a nice run that most directors wouldn't mind having, but it looks like it has hit a bit of a snag with the release of his recent film, Fountain of Youth. Despite a solid cast and what sounds like a pretty entertaining premise, the film is far from the adventure movie treasure it could have been, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

Fountain of Youth now carries a 37% "rotten" score on the review aggregator site with a total of 38 reviews counted so far. That comes in lower than some of his recent releases, such as The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (68%), Guy Ritchie's The Covenant (83%), Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre (51%), Wrath of Man (68%) and The Gentlemen (75%). You have to go back to 2017's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (31&%) to find a lower score.

‘Fountain Of Youth’ Movie Summary And Spoilers: Will Luke And Esme End Up Together?
Image
Directed by Guy Ritchie, Apple TV’s Fountain of Youth stars the enigmatic Natalie Portman, John Krasinski, Eiza Gonzalez, and Domhnall Gleeson in the lead roles. Though the overall aesthetic and visual elements of the film looked good, I was a bit let down by the storyline and the un-inventiveness of the title. The writers tried to build a story using the same old archetypes that, I believe, just made the entire film seem a bit mundane. That said, let’s find out what happened in the Fountain of Youth, and see if Luke and his team were able to find the titular fountain.

Spoiler Alert

Why did Luke want Charlotte to join his quest?

The film opened with Luke Purdue stuck in Thailand in the company of a bunch of thugs who were after a painting that he had stolen. Luke’s father was an archaeologist, and after his death,...

‘Fountain of Youth’: Critics say John Krasinski-Natalie Portman adventure team-up is ‘non-stop action’ but ‘sub-Spielbergian’
Image
Fountain of Youth premiered on Apple TV+ offering a high-octane adventure led by a star-studded cast. However, critics argue that the film tries too hard to emulate legendary treasure-hunt classics like Indiana Jones and National Treasure, without quite hitting the mark.

Directed by Guy Ritchie the film stars John Krasinski and Natalie Portman as a brother-sister duo racing across cities like Bangkok, London, Vienna, and Cairo in search of a mythical better-than-Botox fountain that keeps people young. They’re joined by Domhnall Gleeson and Eiza González on this globe-trotting quest.

From the outset, Fountain of Youth draws immediate comparisons to its adventure-genre predecessors, and not always favorably. Frank Scheck at The Hollywood Reporter critiques the film for being overly familiar and underwhelming, writing, “It’s all as predictable as you’d expect, with the screenplay by James Vanderbilt failing to provide the wit necessary to make the film stand out in any way.

Guy Ritchie’s ‘Fountain of Youth’ Fails To Find Treasure With Disappointing Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
Guy Ritchie’s new movie will premiere on Apple TV+ tomorrow, and fans everywhere are curious to see if the legendary action director’s new film is worth watching. The review embargo for Fountain of Youth lifted earlier today, and reviews for the film began pouring in, painting a picture of what kind of adventure Ritchie has crafted for his next directorial outing. Unfortunately, the film has earned enough scores to be given a 38% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. This comes from 26 reviews at the time of writing, which is a relatively small sample size that still leaves room for change. However, it’s enough to give it the dreaded “rotten” label on the aggregate site. An audience score on the Popcornmeter won’t be revealed until at least tomorrow, once the film is streaming on Apple TV+.

Leading the charge in the Fountain of Youth cast is John Krasinski,...

Guy Ritchie's 'Fountain of Youth' Had Natalie Portman & John Krasinski "Drown" for Water Stunt
Image
The Fountain of Youth seems to be deeper than rumors have it, since it caused actors John Krasinski and Natalie Portman to drown on camera. Well, the stars might not have drowned in the literal waters of the fantastical fountain, but Guy Ritchie's upcoming action mystery film Fountain of Youth is the reason Portman and Krasinski lived to tell the tale. The action adventure story follows two siblings, Charlotte, a museum curator played by Portman, and Luke, a treasure hunter played by Krasinski, as they seek out the mythical Fountain of Youth with the help of some generous funding from a billionaire. The siblings aren't the only ones to receive generous funding, though.

Ritchie seems to have pulled out all the stops when it came to the high-budget Apple TV+, constructing elaborate sets where Krasinski and Portman performed daring stunts. Said to be a mix of beloved adventure tales...

Fountain of Youth Review: John Krasinski channels his inner Indiana Jones in this fun Guy Ritchie caper
Image
Plot: A treasure hunter (John Krasinski) and his estranged sister (Natalie Portman) are hired by a billionaire (Domhnall Gleeson) to find the mythical fountain of youth. They’re opposed by a deadly agent (Eiza González) of a mysterious organization that wants to keep its location a secret at all costs.

Review: Fountain of Youth is a movie that, had it come out a year ago, would have no doubt made it to theaters. A few star-studded under-performers have made Apple Original Films wary of giving the movies a mainstream release, which is too bad, as Fountain of Youth probably would have done well theatrically. Of the big swings at making tentpole-style streaming hits, Fountain of Youth is on the higher end in terms of quality, thanks to a likeable cast, energetic direction, and a formula that’s hard to screw up.

While Fountain of Youth is undeniably derivative of the...

John Krasinski & Natalie Portman's New Apple Adventure Movie Debuts With Disappointing Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
John Krasinski and Natalie Portman's new Apple TV+ adventure movie debuts with a disappointing Rotten Tomatoes score. The former is widely known as Jim Halpert from The Office. From there, he leveraged that fame into one of his passion projects – co-writing, directing, and starring in the post-apocalyptic horror movie A Quiet Place, followed by writing and directing its sequel, A Quiet Place Part II. Recently, Krasinski has opted for more family-friendly fare – including writing, directing, a voicing a role in the fantasy comedy If.

On the other hand, Portman is widely recognizable as Padmé from the Star Wars prequel trilogy. From there, she went on to become one of the most acclaimed actresses of her class, earning three Academy Award nominations for Closer, Jackie, and winning one for her performance as a troubled ballerina in Black Swan. Portman also has a strong track record in action movies, from her...
