According to reports, the 45-year-old has recently signed on to lead the upcoming thriller, which will be directed by V for Vendetta director James McTeigue.

The eighth instalment of the Mission: Impossible film series, titled ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ starring Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise, is set for its grand theatrical release in the US on 23rd May 2025 and in Indian cinemas on 17th May 2025. Until Mi 8 arrives in theatres, we have collated a list of underrated/underappreciated yet must-watch spy films (in no particular order) that you can watch on various Indian Ott platforms. Aaron Paul will play the lead role in an upcoming psychological-thriller.

The 45-year-old Breaking Bad star has signed on for a film called The Midnight Pool. It will be directed by V for Vendetta director James McTeigue, and is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Midnight Pool will tell the story of “a jaded journalist (Paul), whom after a personal tragedy, is lured into the shadows of an elite, exclusive society, where the pursuit of a career-defining story becomes a descent into illusion, manipulation and altered realities.”

The film — which comes from producers Traction, McTeigue and Gramercy Park Media, which is also financing — is heading to Cannes, where it’s being introduced by newly-launched company Stoic alongside CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group.

The 2022 Black List script comes from Jonathan Easley (“Red Right Hand”) and centers on Johnny Black (Paul), a jaded journalist whom, after a personal tragedy, is lured into the shadows of an elite, exclusive society, where the pursuit of a career-defining story becomes a descent into illusion, manipulation and altered realities.

“Long Story Short,” the Netflix animated series from “BoJack Horseman” creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, has found its voice cast.

Lisa Edelstein, Paul Reiser, Ben Feldman, Abbi Jacobson, Max Greenfield, Angelique Cabral, and Nicole Byer will all voice characters in the series, with Dave Franco and Michaela Dietz set as recurring guest stars. Netflix also revealed the comedy series will debut on Aug. 22.

“Long Story Short” was originally announced in Aug. 2024. The official logline states the show is “about one family, over time. Jumping through the years, we follow the Schwooper siblings from childhood to adulthood and back again, chronicling their triumphs, disappointments, joys, and compromises.”

Bob-Waksberg is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series. Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen will executive produce for Tornante Television. Lisa Hanawalt is supervising producer and will design original art for the series. Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley will serve as co-executive producers for animation studio ShadowMachine.

The Only Living Pickpocket in New York is an upcoming drama film from T-Street Productions starring John Turturro as a career pickpocket forced into a high-stakes situation. The film has recently added Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Steve Buscemi (Wednesday), and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) to the cast.

Per Deadline, Esposito, Buscemi, and Maslany have joined the cast, though their roles remain undisclosed. The film follows Turturro's character, Harry, in a desperate race against time through the streets of New York City. Turturro most recently starred as Irving in the hit Apple TV series Severance. His performance, as well as those of his cast members, along with the magnetic writing on the Ben Stiller-created series, led to a rapid third season renewal for the show.
