Melissa Joan Hart will star in and executive produce a new Lifetime thriller, “Killing the Competition,” TheWrap can reveal exclusively.

The juicy thriller, which debuts Saturday, March 1, at 8 p.m. Et, stars Hart as Elizabeth Fenwick, a loving mother in her 40s who becomes enraged after her daughter is cut from her alma mater’s dance team. Hart also serves as an EP on the movie via her company Hartbreak Films.

Inspired by actual events, “Killing the Competition” follows Elizabeth, who was once her high school’s star dancer and prom queen, as she and her husband, Steve (Eddie Mills), help craft a similar path for their daughter, Grace (Lily Brooks O’Briant).

When Grace doesn’t make the team, however, Elizabeth becomes obsessed with the star of the dance team, Hannah (Valerie Loo), and her mother Nicole (Anzu Lawson), and eventually becomes involved in a shocking kidnapping plot.

Mommy Meanest is set to premiere later this year on the cable channel. Inspired by actual events, the movie tells the story of a teenage girl with a history of emotional trauma who is relentlessly cyber-bullied, only to discover the culprit behind the horrific texts is her very own mother. Yikes.

No doubt to keep peace in the household, Hamlin isn’t playing her mother’s daughter in the movie. She appears as Summer, the friend of the cyber-bullied teen.

Melissa Joan Hart is addressing all of the talk about her latest role.

Back in October, Lifetime release the movie Would You Kill For Me: The Mary Bailey Story in which the 47-year-old Sabrina the Teenage Witch actress plays Ella, the grandmother of Mary (Presley Allard) and mother of Veronica (Olivia Scriven). The character of Mary is said to be only 11, while the character Veronica was 16 when she gave birth to her daughter.

Now months after it was released, the movie is going viral with fans freaking out that Melissa played a grandmother.

Considering Melissa Joan Hart will forever be a teenage witch to many of us, it is a bit jarring to find her being cast in the role. But it’s not just that our memories can’t mathematically fathom Hart, now 47(!), playing a grandmother, it’s that it feels like further proof that the movie and TV business has no idea what to do with women after they’re “over the hill.” Admittedly, The Mary Bailey Story is based on a true story and the figures are indeed young, but it still feels like it plays into the topic as a whole.

Would You Kill For Me? The Mary Bailey Story is a Lifetime original drama based on a true murder story. Mary Bailey, a teenage girl who was forced to kill her stepfather, is the central focus of the story. Although, from the very beginning to the end, the film had the capacity to make anyone feel like turning it off and running away from it as far as one could, we still did the hard labor for anyone who wanted to have a detailed discussion about Would You Kill For Me?
