But the crisis is averted, and Sesame Street Season 56 will premiere later this year on Netflix. According to Netflix, the new season will feature format changes and the return of popular segments like "Elmo’s World" and "Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck." Additionally, episodes will be built around one longer, 11-minute story. After announcing multiple reboots and spin-offs of popular classic Cartoon Network shows, it seems Warner Bros. is doubling down on its plans, teasing that the future of its animation division will involve bringing back existing IP as it "makes good business sense." In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Warner Bros. executive Vanessa Brookman stated, "The easiest way for me to do that now is to do it with our really beloved IP." Interestingly, Warner Bros. wants to bring back classic titles, as there were numerous reports of shows being pulled off Max, like Ben 10, Steven Universe, and The Regular Show, to name a few. It also doesn't help that the Cartoon Network website shut down last year.
But while shows are being pulled from Warner Bros' streaming library, the studio did announce numerous new projects, such as a new season of The Amazing World of Gumball, more Adventure Time content,...

Welcome back to Elmore, where the laws of reality are a joke, and family life is anything but ordinary. Whether he’s battling an evil fast-food empire, facing off against a sentient AI in love with his mom, or trying to stop Banana Joe from wearing pants, Gumball Watterson drags his brother Darwin, sister Anais, and the rest of the town of Elmore along for the ride.
With even wilder stories, bigger twists, and surreal humor, the show is so amazing that they had to rename it!

Sitcoms are one of television's oldest genres and have experienced exceptional growth since the 1950s. There is no shortage of comedies on television, but it can sometimes be difficult to find a program that's appropriate for both children and adults. Not every sitcom will pass this test, but there's plenty of acceptable programming that's out there to enjoy.
There have never been more options for audiences eager to find their next television obsession. The normalization of streaming services has resulted in a wealth of content to consume, much of which is interested in pushing the boundaries of what creators can accomplish in the medium and the sitcom genre specifically.
Updated on March 26, 2025, by Andrea Sandoval: Sitcoms are a great TV option for the entire family, but not all make sense for children. Some iconic sitcoms, like Friends, might be boring for the young ones in the family. However, there...

Since launching in 1992, Cartoon Network has been a leader in animated kids' programming. With their original Cartoon Cartoons series as well as a broad catalog of inherited Hanna-Barbera classics, they pushed animation into the mainstream of cable television. Their current programming keeps expanding to include critically acclaimed shows such as The Amazing World of Gumball and Craig of the Creek, but many fans continue to return to the titles of their past.
Cartoon Network has undergone a variety of changes over the past few years, especially given their recent reorganization due to the Warner Bros. Cartoon Network fans are starting 2025 on a sour note as several beloved animated series have been removed from Max.
Just last month, it was announced that four popular DC animated series—Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Static Shock, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series—would leave the platform by the end of 2024. True to the announcement, these shows disappeared from Max’s library after December 31. But it didn’t stop there.
As of January 1, more fan-favorites have also been removed, including Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, The Looney Tunes Show, and the first seven seasons of Teen Titans Go! While the show’s eighth season remains on Max, fans hoping to revisit earlier episodes will have to look elsewhere, like Hulu, where some seasons are still available.

Many beloved properties of Cartoon Network are about to disappear from Max as Warner Bros. Discovery continues to trim down their streaming library. Congratulations to Nickelodeon for winning the animation rivalry simply by letting us stream SpongeBob SquarePants.
When controversial Wbd CEO David Zaslav assumed control of the WarnerMedia empire and its massive, culturally crucial portfolio of original TV shows and movies in 2022, he set the tone for his tenure by cancelling completed and well-screened films like Coyote vs. Acme just to earn tax write-offs and recoup some of the production costs. Very quickly, cartoon-loving Max subscribers and Warner Bros.-associated artists realized that Zaslav’s intention with the post-merger mega-company was to rein in its sprawling streaming library, cut down on animation and focus on pushing shows that are cheaper and quicker to produce, like numerous spinoffs of 90 Day Fiancé or a Harry Potter-themed baking competition.

The Amazing World of Gumball season 7 has been in production for a few years with little in the way of updates. Considered one of Cartoon Network's best TV shows of the 2010s, The Amazing World of Gumball follows 12-year-old Gumball Watterson, an anthropomorphic blue cat, and his adoptive goldfish brother Darwin. The series features a large ensemble of characters who are notably animated in a variety of different styles. Characters are traditionally animated, stop-motion, CGI, and more throughout the series.
While The Amazing World of Gumball is marketed at children, the series tackles mature themes such as philosophy, politics, marriage, cyberbullying, and the overall human condition. Older audiences can definitely enjoy The Amazing World of Gumball with its secretly raunchy jokes and dark and intelligent humor. The series premiered in May 2011 and lasted for six seasons with two miniseries following: the six-episode Darwin's Yearbook in 2019 and The Gumball Chronicles...

Judging by entertainment news, the term "animated" might seem like an industry euphemism for "tax write-off." And despite Warner Bros. being the most destructive thing to happen to cartoons since the eraser, its new feature film, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, is getting love from critics. The first reviews are in for the Looney Tunes movie that managed to escape Warner Bros.' clutches and land a theatrical release (more on that in a moment), and the response from critics so far is overwhelmingly positive.

Since its debut in 2013, Teen Titans Go! has become a hallmark property for both DC fans and Cartoon Network, offering a lighthearted and comedic take on the beloved Teen Titans characters. Originally met with mixed reactions, especially from fans of the more serious 2003 Teen Titans series, this version has won over audiences with its quirky humor, self-referential style, and countless pop culture nods. Across multiple seasons, the show has evolved, experimenting with different storylines, parodies, and even musical numbers that keep both young fans and nostalgic viewers entertained.
Over the years, the show has varied in quality and creativity, with certain seasons standing out as fan favorites while others divided audiences. From early episodes that introduced the chaotic dynamics of the team to later seasons featuring inventive crossovers and increasingly meta jokes, Teen Titans Go! has continuously found ways to stay fresh and relevant. In an unexpected move, several iconic Cartoon Network series have been removed from Max without warning. The streaming service is the home to various animated series but has dropped several modern classics. This sudden removal has impacted a number of beloved animated series, leaving viewers to question the reasoning behind this decision and the future of other well-known programs.
According to Collider, some of the well-known titles that have been removed include Ben 10, Steven Universe, Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, Chowder, and the 2016 Powerpuff Girls. Under Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav’s continued campaign of content erasure, animation fans mourn the destruction of Planet Nielsen.
In case Zaslav’s reputation among the cartoon community wasn’t low enough already, the controversial executive’s regime made a surprising and surreptitious move this week that sparked outrage across numerous online fandoms. Following the latest updates to the Max streaming library, seven Cartoon Network shows have disappeared from the premium streaming service, with Ben 10, Steven Universe, the 2016 Powerpuff Girls revival, Amazing World of Gumball, We Bare Bears, Chowder and Regular Show all pulled from service without so much as a “leaving soon” notice.
Now that the entire entertainment industry is firmly sliding on a downward slope following the peak of streaming, it seems that no TV series — no matter how beloved or endlessly quoted — is safe from the content cuts that have become company-wide policy under Zaslav’s leadership.

Now that the entire entertainment industry is firmly sliding on a downward slope following the peak of streaming, it seems that no TV series — no matter how beloved or endlessly quoted — is safe from the content cuts that have become company-wide policy under Zaslav’s leadership.

While streaming has made it easier to binge our favorite shows and movies all in one place, it also means that titles we’ve loved for years can become inaccessible at a moment’s notice. The corporations that own Netflix, Max, Hulu, and others now have the ability to truncate their catalogs in an attempt to present a leaner library and save costs, often at the expense of series and films that consumers love.
Cartoon Network became the latest victim of this phenomenon recently as fans of the iconic brand can no longer visit the cable channel’s website, which has been a fixture of the web since the late 1990s. The URL cartoonnetwork.com now redirects to Max’s website. It leaves the future of the shows from Cartoon Network in question, especially because there is no clarity on what will remain on Max and what will be lost to faint millennial memories.

Cartoon Network is offline. Warner Bros. Discovery has apparently pulled the plug on the official website for Cartoon Network shortly after squashing the cartoon-centric streaming service Boomerang.
Per THR, the network's official website (CartoonNetwork.com) now redirects visitors directly to the sign-up page for the streaming service Max, which hosts Cartoon Network content for paid subscribers. The message notes that cable subscribers can continue to enjoy Cartoon Network programming on television and connected apps, but when it comes to streaming, the page noted, Looking for episodes of your favorite Cartoon Network shows? Just one week after announcing the shuttering of the classic cartoon streaming service Boomerang, Warner Bros. DIscovery is once again slashing away at its animation archives. The official Cartoon Network website has been shut down, and it will now redirect any visitors at cartoonnetwork.com to a landing page at the company's subscription streaming service Max asking viewers to subscribe to watch their favorite animated shows. The site was once a way to check out full episodes and clips of shows like Adventure Time, Teen Titans Go!, and The Amazing World of Gumball and play free games based on those series and more. It was apparently taken offline on Thursday.

After serving the retro animation community proudly for seven years, the classic cartoon streaming service Boomerang will cease to exist at the end of September — and this time, it’s not coming back.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO and president David Zaslav seems to have a bit of a love/hate relationship with his company’s immense library of classic works of art. He loves purging old Warner Bros. films from the Max streaming library, and he hates it when subscribers watch anything older than the pilot episode of Milf Manor. In Zaslav’s post-art, pro-”content” business model for Max, the streaming hub for Warner Bros. Discovery’s most culturally significant IP becomes even more bare-bones with each round of cuts, and the original shows and movies produced by Max oftentimes face cancellation after post-production and pre-premiere, leaving solidly screen-tested films like Coyote vs. Acme in a permanent state of inaccessibility to the average subscriber.

Warner Bros. Discovery has been dishing out cuts and cancelations in all areas of its output over the last few years, and it seems that the cull is still ongoing. Warner Bros. Discovery is shutting down the Boomerang streaming service and moving some of its programming, which includes many classic cartoon series, onto Max.
The kids-and-family move is set for September 30, according to an email to subscribers.
It comes in the same year as a similar strategic shift by Paramount Global, which shuttered Noggin and moved its content onto flagship Paramount+.

Many of the best shows from Cartoon Network's last few decades of programming have released some exciting updates during this year's Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2024. Another one has been added to the list. The popular TV series, The Amazing World of Gumball will be returning for its seventh season after the main series stopped airing in 2019 and continued through its spin-off shows.

J.G. Quintel’s new “Regular Show” and Craig McCracken’s “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” spin-off both feature in a new production slate from Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe.
Unveiled Wednesday at Annecy to an appreciative crowd at Annecy’s MIFA market, which greeted multiple shows with whoops of enthusiasm, the two new announcements join a new “Adventure Time” series, “Side Quests,” as greenlights at the Warner-owned companies.
The new slate also boasts two more “Adventure Time” shows in development, plus an unannounced Scooby-Doo project.
The big question raised by the studio’s Annecy focus is whether the surge in new shows is a temporary anomaly or marks a broader indicator of a more sustained return by Warner Bros. Discovery to fuller-on animation production after the lull of the recent past.

Some shows are big cultural hits and juggernauts, and some quietly go on season after season; maybe not a huge critical giant, but there are enough ardent fans to justify their existence. And that’s probably where Apple TV+’s “Trying,” a heartwarming British comedy television series created by Andy Wolton (“The Amazing World of Gumball”), lands; it has its fans, and it keeps successfully chugging along, though to be fair, it does have its U.K.

After Jim Samples, the Cartoon Network executive who oversaw the greenlighting of such successful cartoons as "Samurai Jack," "Ben 10," "Codename: Kids Next Door," and "The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy," left, a new regime at the popular animation-focused cable channel changed tactics. When Stuart Snyder took over in mid-2007, he had a brand new mandate for Cartoon Network — no weird stuff.
Speaking with Buzzfeed, "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack" creator Thurop Van Orman recalled Snyder saying, "'We don't want anything weird or anything where any mom would come out of the kitchen and say, 'What are you watching?'"
Now, this is not to say that Snyder failed at that command, or that his definition of the word "weird" is different than this writer's, but his tenure was filled with shows you could call "weird" and would make a mom say "What are you watching?"

As the year winds down, it’s time to look back at Netflix’s biggest hits, and today, we begin by looking into what kids’ TV shows picked up the most points in the Netflix top 10s over the past 12 months.
This list is compiled using FlixPatrol data collected from the daily top 10s on Netflix from over 80 countries around the globe. They assign points and values to each title that gets featured on any day. Their data isn’t perfect as their method doesn’t quite fully capture the complexity of viewership data, such as total watch time, repeat viewings, or demographic details of the audience. Also worth noting is that Netflix changed up its top 10 metrics midway through the year to favor views over pure viewing hours. That said, their data provides a pretty accurate snapshot of what performed best over a long period.
