The pub dates back to the 1500s, and has been known under many identities including The Admiral Vernon, The Duke of Cumberland, and The Duke’s Head.
The Duke on The Test made headlines in 2023 after Michelin chef and restaurateur Marco Pierre White stayed there and praised the head chef and his team.

Also located near the River Test, the Greyhound on the Test, in Stockbridge, overlooks the river.
Alongside its view of the sparkling River Test, the pub is known for its cosy fireplace and menu, put together by head chef Phill Bishop, which showcases the finest seasonal produce.
The history of the pub stretches back to the 19th century, with the pub re-opening in its current form in March 2013.
Since then, it has won multiple awards, including a Good Food Award, Sunday Times Pub of the Year, and Michelin Pub of the Year.
The Bush Inn

By the River Itchen, The Bush Inn, in Ovington, near Alresford, is a scenic, 17th century riverside pub with elegant décor, offering real ales and gastropub fare.

The Fishers Pond

The Mayfly
