Newport Railway Station regeneration 2009-10
The £22m regeneration of Newport railway station is being jointly funded by Network Rail and the Welsh Assembly Government. The project commenced in July 2009 and is due for completion in July 2010 in time for the Ryder Cup at the Celtic Manor.
There will be a new station buildings on either side of the railway together with a footbridge linking all platforms. A bigger car park and much improved transport interchange will be provided.
It will be clad in Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) Link
, as used in the Eden Project Link , which is both recyclable and lightweight thus requiring less steel to support it.
