In woodland to the west of the village of Lerryn are the ruinous remains of the idiosyncratic "Tivoli Gardens".
In the early 1920s, Frank Parkyn who had made his money from China Clay extraction began work on creating a park for his native Lerryn following a visit to the Danish Tivoli Gardens.
These "pleasure gardens" opened to the public in 1922 and provided a venue for the increasingly popular Lerryn Regatta. Sadly this annual event was held for the last time in 1968. The park remained relatively clear into the late C20th but over the decades since has gradually been overtaken by the woodland within which it is set - with just enigmatic concrete structures peeping out of the greenery hinting at its former glories.
